What an exciting campaign! Even a scheduled debate can’t go off in a dull way.

BRILLIANT MOVE!

This debate will be viewed by millions more than originally anticipated.

McCain went in, gave the house republicans support and now can move on.

Poor Barry...

Not in the least. McCain is making the leadership distinction clear. At any given moment, he does what he believes is the right thing to do, the necessary thing to do. This is evidence that he is most certainly capable of “multitasking” ; }

Why does it even cost 6 billion dollars to set up the debate?

What this means is that the ReidPelosiDoddFranks political cabal has telegraphed its intention to sandbag McCain in the financial crisis negotiations. McCain saw that as a lose-lose and he moved on, at least for tonight.

There has been NO deal approved at this time. McCain is heading back to Washington after the debate to resume his role in trying to solving the crisis.

Reported on Fox News just now that Obama's plans for after the debate is to remain 'on call' if Pelosi feels he will be needed in Washington.

He worked on the legislation. BO insisted on a debate. McCain’s not hiding. Nor is he going to keep a campaign suspended if BO keeps campaigning. The aggressor sets the rules. At the same times, a compromise was reportedly agreed upon. That’s what I call leadership. [But I do hope that McCain fought pork/waste/fraud.] — FRegards ....

Rumor has it Sarah ask John McCain if he wanted her to go down there and, as she put it, “Full roundhouse him into the audience Norris style?” and John smiled and said, No Sarah, the Master Jedi needs to see visit with the arrogant grasshopper ...

McCain, “I will not debate until the financial crisis is solved!!!”

“Unless it starts hurting me politically!!!”

Courage John, courage.

I predict we’ll find out this is not correct info, that the Dims are once again trying to scuttle McCain.

McCain will be fine. He’s been through much worse....and unlike Barry, doesn’t need to prep..he already knows what he believes. Barry on the other hand lost at least one day of prep time...lol

The ratings for this debate will be through the roof!

McCain did blink. He heads to Washington to sort out the financial mess and leaves it in even more chaos - without really doing much. Brilliant. He better hope for a major Obama gaffe tonight.

Just out of curiosity: are you the fellow who had his butt stapled shut?

You're sure exhibiting all of the symptoms....

“My fellow Americans:
I stand before you tonight because my colleague Senator Harry Reid, who earlier in the week announced the Congress would go home because they did not know what to do about the crisis, assured me his political party intended to stonewall obfuscate bloviate derail and otherwise throw your economic interests under the bus if I remained in Washington and received "credit" for breaking the stalemate.
My response to the flawed rescue plan that 90% of you oppose, has been drafted and is in the capable hands of my fellow Republican colleagues. My presence in Washington can no longer be used by Senator Reid and others in his party as an excuse to not proceed with the people's business. I will not see your interests held hostage by bitter partisanship.

I am here tonight to discuss with Senator Obama, what specifically led to this crisis. Because who do not learn from history's mistakes are doomed to repeat them

To blame a “philosophy” known as democratic capitalism for the corruption greed and stupidity that overwhelmed our financial system- is a nonstarter. This is the stuff upon which marxian critiques are premised. That the people must not be given freedom and liberty because “some” will abuse it. That “the government” is somehow more moral and competent and “compassionate” than the people who form and live by it.

Capitalism is indeed an ideology with flaws. Just not flaws as deadly to life liberty and happiness as have been revealed by history, in every other economic system the world has tried.”

That is simply a distortion of everything that Newt, Dick Morris, and Hannity said.

All agreed that if the House GOP principles were embraced and that we were on the road to a better agreement, now facilitated by McCain, that he should fly in to Mississippi for a victory lap.

Granted, McCain has to perform well tonight. He also needs to answer foreign policy questions with tangential impacts to the global economy, thereby leaving BO in the dust.

McCain has dominated the news this week. At worst, he has neutralized an issue that would kill him in the election. He has successfully tied BO and the RATS to Bush, not himself. He has gotten into BO’s head and disrupted his debate prep.

Shall we continue?

I’m in a real bad mood today, so this is going to come across a lot harsher than I usually let myself post.

But what a bunch of freaking whiny crybabies on this site lacking even a modicum of political sense!

McCain says, “We need to deal with this issue, I am stopping my campaign and would like to push the debate back. I ask for Senator Obama to join me in this.”

Obama says, “No, a President should be able to multi-task.”

McCain goes to Washington, is seen in the press all day working on the deal. The deal isn’t done, but since Obama refused to agree to postpone the debate, McCain hops down to Mississippi to debate him.

With the above situation we have people saying “Unless it starts hurting me politically!” Morons.

When they get to the debate tonight, and an economic deal still isn’t finished, people will say “Why are they debating when they should be coming up with a solution?”

and the only answer they can come up with?

Because Obama said “No” to postponing the debate.

Now who looks “political”?

I’d say the biggest cost probably had to do with building a denbate stage, TV broadcast studio, repairing roads, painting, fixing seats. Nothing is cheap.

McCain is probably going to drop something live tonight at the debate, he’s got something up his sleeve, looks like a full on blitz on the Dems role in this fiasco, i am hoping, make Bambi’s head spin.
