McCain departing shortly for debate...
(Excerpt) Read more at cnn.com ...
This is exactly what McCain wanted. Displaying his maverick style of leadership. Smart decision by McCain.
i disagree... this is exciting... and now more people will be focusing on the debate... excellent move!
Here’s the truth (if I were McCain).
Senator Obama refused to cancel the debate. I completely disagree with his decision. My motto has been to put “America First” and I’m an United States senator entrusted to leadership by the American people. My priority was to put 110% of my attention on the current financial crisis facing our nation. Senator Obama was more interested in putting his attention on this campaign. Though I disagree, I was compelled to show up at the debate because Senator Obama believes it is more important than the stability of our economy.
Or something of the sorts..
“...I think McCain won the looking Presidential chess match here...”
I see it that way too. McCain has substance to back him up. And he leaves Washington with Reid sputtering. Reido fiddles while Washington burns.
he may bring up the problems with the bailout...straight to the people
Oh please.
Half of the people here said not going was stupid. Then another half are saying it’s stupid to go.
How about all of you keyboard campaign consultants get it through your thick skulls that NONE of you know what the hell you are talking about!
Obama has probably spent at least some time in the past few days cramming for a debate with Palin (just in case). Now all that time was wasted.
It depends.
If McCain can now go down and clearly be more presidential than Obama in a national security debate, then he has just proven that he’s experienced, involved, and concerned.
Obama has shown that he’s out-of-touch and “campaign focused.”
It appears that Obama is a celebrity campaign junkie.
2. NO hope of having an agreement reached so why not head for the debate
Will take door number 2 for $700mill
I would like McCain to tell Bananaramma to put up or shut about the mess we’re in and tell the folks what really is happening in DC. (Acorn and all that other pork.)
yes! this is what we all want to hear about... who wants to hear about foreign affairs tonight? a president needs to be able to talk about the issues as hand--without preparation... can Obama do that? uh, uh, um...
Agreed... The Fighter Pilots sword is sharpened, and his guns are clean. Øbama will be spinning in the wind.
I completely disagree. McCain has now ensured max viewership for tonight's debate where Obama can be exposed for the empty suit he is. Further, McCain's tactics also caused Obama to miss valuable debate prep time.
Obama will have in his ear piece and ‘Dick Tracy’ teleprompter wristwatch on receiving his answers and debate talking points from his team behind the screen.
McCain needs to memorize a few good zingers, and thats all. The rest should come naturally.
However, that being said, he also needs to match his Saddleback persona. He killed that night!
McCain did blink. He heads to Washington to sort out the financial mess and leaves it in even more chaos - without really doing much. Brilliant. He better hope for a major Obama gaffe tonight.
I would like McCain to tell Bananaramma to put up or shut up about the mess we’re in and tell the folks what really is happening in DC. (Acorn and all that other pork.)
Just a suggestion...Do yourself a favor and stop watching the MSM. Just a thought.
You are living in dreamland if you think McCain is going to call out ANY liberals EVER. He said in his speech to his own freaking convention that he will have Democrats in his own cabinet for Christ sakes!
We will hear a bunch of “My friends...now is not the time for poltical sides and bickering”
You will never hear him take out ACORN on a national debate or call out ANY Democrat. The higher road never wins in politics...one day Republicans will learn this.
That's not really Jim Lehrer's style as a moderator. He's a well mannered fellow who asks fair questions. I can't recall him ever pulling a gotcha stunt in any of the debates he's previously moderated.
