I agree there is definitely a “check-mate” in there somewhere. . . I’ve just never been good at chess.
We do not support government bailouts of private institutions. Government interference in the markets exacerbates problems in the marketplace and causes the free market to take longer to correct itself. We believe in the free market as the best tool to sustained prosperity and opportunity for all. What else do you call someone who rejects a conservative party platform? Oh wait, I think the term is "liberal."
The next debate/talking point (watch for the spin!) will be between Obama’s placing the precedence on the ability to multitask (which he said in his statement) and McCain’s position that this is too important to take lightly and deserves full attention.
[He could take the entire 90 minutes for himself]
Please, please Lord let that happen. Mac will be in Washington WORKING on one of the most important emergencies this country has seen and Bammie will be in Tenn. debating a empty podium.
Polling results over the next several days, and how Obama spins this move will be interesting.
I believe McCain should simply be silent until he gets to the Senate hearing. Let Obama talk.
He really is pretty conservative. For one thing, now that Zell Miller (D-Georgia) has quit, McCain is more conservative than any Democratic senator by a significant margin. (Of course, Zell was more conservative than most Republicans, never mind McCain). The problem is that his ego gets in the way, and he gets to thinking he knows better and that anyone who opposes his position can go straight to hell. The polls are our way of beating him with a stick to remind him that he works for us, and not the other way around.
The problem is this - what happens if he gets into the White House - and decides that he's going to do whatever he wants to do? I prefer McCain over Obama, but I suspect conservatives are going to have to spank him just as hard as we did Bush, just to make sure he doesn't get too far out of line on things like amnesty, big government and so on. The heartburn won't be over even if McCain wins.
LOL! Perfect.
Personally, I think McCain's stubborn streak/ego can be beneficial, if you are on the same side of the issue he is. If not, he'll drive you crazy. He's like a good hockey player who antagonizes -- if he's on your side, you love him. If he's playing for the other team, you don't.
I know of one case where a lobbyist for a private advocacy group tried to misrepresent McCain's position, twice. McCain got very angry at that, and refused to meet with the man after that. That story was years ago, and McCain earned my respect there. Though I don't agree with him on everything, I do believe he has integrity and good character.

Working extra tonight, so expect tomorrow to be slightly fuzzy with a touch of “unngh”.
Rush played part of the Ahmanutjob’s speech and then part of Obama’s speech in Germany and the two said the same thing, so that’s really all we need to know about Obama’s foreign policy.
Your alternative choice, would then be, to vote for a muslim, marxist!
Explosive Video, Fannie Mae CEO calling Obama and the Dems the Family and Conscience of Fannie Mae
“Your alternative choice, would then be, to vote for a muslim, marxist!”
There are no Muslims on the ballot and to my knowledge, neither Chuck Colson or Bob Barr are Marxists.
Indeed the country’s economic phone is ringing, McCain picked up the call...
Say to the American people, "I am sorry that I couldn't be there in person with Senator Obama tonight, but I had to be in Washington to help out with this crisis we are facing."
Obama would then be left on stage looking like a fool. Maybe he could say, "But they were supposed to call me if they needed me"
COUNTRY FIRST
Barney Frank should be removed. Fox is playing clips from 2003, where the Bush Administration warned of impending disaster with Freddie and Fannie, and Barney Frank would not cooperate and said everything is fine.
