John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.

The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Friday’s scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.

“America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen,” McCain said.

I didn’t want to get in any more fights on here so I chose not to post until we were close to having a candidate. I never signed out of here or quit. It wasn’t worth my time to fight some of you and your lies. So I quit posting and before I came back I asked the owner.

BTW, I went to McCain the night of the Florida primary when I was asked to come over.

Snippy, snippy, snippy like before. Get over it!

I’ll keep repeating it until it sticks...those are devastating words from the OZERO...”Call me if you need me!” SOUNDS so close to Marie Antoinette’s famous history line...”LET THEM EAT CAKE!”

This is way beyond Republicans and Democrats. Our entire economy is on the verge of collapse if credit dries up.

I can tell by your tag line that you'll be interested that Newt pointed out on Fox last nite that 'the fix' top 2 priorities should be: (1)repeal of Sarbanes-Oxley (a $3 million/year useless tax on each public company, no matter how small) and (2) FASB retraction of 'mark-to-market'. One (1) IPO (new startup company) in the last 2 quarters due to the screwed up mess from those 2 Regulations alone! Oh, and his suggestion for Congress/Bernanke/Paulson...come up with Plan B. Guess what Congress is NOT debating!

McCain just called and Obama didn’t show up. He can only pass the buck. Not a leader.

The MSM media is trying to spin it. The reality is, the polls are still fairly close. Look at Gallup, Look at Rasmussen. Look at the battleground polls.

but do you get the sense that we can throw whatever polls were took this week out right now ?

Everyone I have talked with that I know says that Monday will be a meltdown of monumental proportions if they don’t do something. Credit has already dried up this week — no mortgages, no car loans, etc — all waiting for the Congress to act.

BS. McCain has a real role in the crisis as a US senator. So does Biden and Obama. Palin can continue to campaign because she is not involved in the decision making process and has no responsibilties in that regard. She is not being paid to discharge those responsibilities.

Exactly! Once again, Zero has proved himself to be a follower - and a narcissistic one at that. The financial crisis will affect every single American both now and in the future. It is of paramount importance and for Zero to drag his feet as he did, then say it was his idea, and then want to continue with the debate, is very revealing. The man has never had an original thought in his life. His press conference today was laughable, ah, ah, ah, what he said, ah ah ah.

Pay no mind to all the trolls. McCain did what a President should do - step up to the plate, put the country first, and tackle the problem head on. Not, "Call me if you need me." What kind of leadership is THAT??????

I hope W doesn’t rattle the DOW any more than he has to.

If the DOW traders are rattled by anything that W has to say, then they're in serious denial, and then we've got real problems. They, of all people, should have the inside scoop on this issue, and W will be telling them things they should already know.

I am soooo glad John Robinson got FR up and running again before this story broke! There hasn’t been a good troll thread in a long time, LOL!

Multi-tasking, Ding Dong? If that’s the best you and the communists at the DNC can come up with, it’s quite telling because it’s BEYOND LAME!!

Tell me fool (Ding Dong), how does one keep surviving, keep breathing, keep their sanity, keep living one minute at a time while imprisoned for 5 years in a VietCong hell hole without being able to multi-task??

this is definately a long pass down the sideline for a touchdown for McCain....not to belittle the importance of actually being presidential and statesmanlike, but this move by McCain is FANTASTIC!

All 0’s crew has to do is produce the tape recording of the call.

What?

They didn’t think to *make* one, just in case?

Without evidence, it’s hearsay.

0, bummer.

Why does McCain have to “be” in DC, unless it is just for a vote?

Um, gee, maybe because THE CURRENT PACKAGE IS NOT GOING TO PASS THE SENATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good grief, the ignorance around here.
