DEWEY BEACH, Delaware (CNN) -- Although Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden routinely mocks his Republican counterpart, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, for her onetime support of the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere," Biden and his running mate voted to keep the project alive twice.
Both Biden and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama voted to kill a Senate amendment that would have diverted federal funding for the bridge to repair a Louisiana span badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina, Senate records show.
And both voted for the final transportation bill that included the $223 million earmark for the Alaska project.
An amendment offered by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Oklahoma, would have stripped the money appropriated to connect the Alaskan coastal city of Ketchikan to its airport on sparsely populated Gravina Island and diverted the money to Louisiana.

You guys need to understand, this is how they bury things....they don’t have them on their main shows on the cable network, but let the item go onto their website. Then, when accused of being biased, they say “We covered this on Sept. 23...” of course few people watch their website.
See how long this stays there also...and release it while people are trying to figure out if the stock market’s gonna go down 1000 points tomorrow.
**Biden and his running mate voted to keep the project alive twice.**
LOL! A CNN reporter who tells the truth!
Damn, FReepers are fast. I didn't expect the correct answer for at least a few posts .. LOL
I’m stuck in a hotel traveling and of course they don’t have fox news... grrr.
given the choice between MSNBC & CNN I chose the later. right after I turned the TV on they aired this same story and it was really good. They were down right mocking Biden and showed that he’s funding to replace a bridge between two nowhere’s in delaware. lol
granted it wasn’t exactly prime time, but it was worth a good chuckle to watch.
Being on here and learning more about politics(especially how specific days relate to bad and good news) there is a chance that this is a tactic to throw some meat to the wolves. I wouldn’t be surprised if CNN, even if everything is well tomorrow, fans the flames more and more so that this stuff gets buried while all of the bad news that might impact adversely on the McCain-Palin ticket floats to the top. To some it will probably just be campaign rhetoric.
I just hope that the FBI investigation nabs a few Democrats, and that during the Economic-Domestic issues debate, McCain will bring up all of the ties that Obama and the Democrats had to the FM’s. I wonder how Obama will feel being reminded of the fact that Democrats, twice, blocked attempts to hold these companies accountable.
And since I haven’t made my word clear before: I oppose Corporate Welfare/Bail outs. It stinks a little of protectionism and gaming the market system. Thankfully, if the FBI does so, the accounting will happen. Otherwise it is just throwing money into a black hole that should just die.
Now back to the topic of the program:
Hey, this is what happens when you don’t pay the Clintons. Obmabi promised to pay Hillary’s campaign debt, but has yet to pay $1 million of it. You don’t shaft the Clintons, Obmabi, and avoid any consequences.
CNN and some of the other drive bys throw out a bone like this to try to shut up their critics by saying “Hey we exaimed Biden and Obama and their projects.” Thing is this story was probably all but three minutes on CNN whereas they’ll spend almost an entire evening focusing on Palin and her record. At the end of the campaign, the attack pieces by all the drive bys will be 80% to 20% on McCain/Palin.
Gotta check to see if monkeys flew out my butt. Can’t believe cnn posted this.
Obama did a lot worse than just welsh on his promise to help Hillary with her campaign debt. He literally stole the nomination from her, by first tricking the voters, and then by using Chicago "politics" to abscond with all the delegates at their convention.
He then went on to compound that injury by not even bothering to have her vetted as a potential running mate. And to add arrogant hubris on top of all that, he then asked her to hit the road to campaign for him.
Bill may have been a two-timing womanizer, but Obama has insulted him, and his wife, before the whole world.
I can't believe that Obama didn't read the label when he opened that can of Whoop-Ass.
This year, Delaware has requested 116 congressional earmarks through Biden, its longtime senator, at a cost to taxpayers of $342 million.
My Question:
How much taxpayers funds is that per square mile versus earmarks requested per square mile by the state of Alaska?
Someone else can do that math. Compared this to Palin's FY 09 requests. Biden is asking 30% more $$ per person for Delaware than Sarah is for Alaska.
Yep. All of that plus the way that he insulted and demeaned her during the primaries. Barry has forgotten that payback isn’t pretty.
