Palin, in a bubble, meets her first world leaders

NEW YORK - Sarah Palin met her first world leaders Tuesday. ADVERTISEMENT

It was a tightly controlled crash course on foreign policy for the Republican vice presidential candidate, the mayor-turned-governor who has been outside North America just once.

Palin sat down with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. The conversations were private, the pictures public, meant to build her resume for voters concerned about her lack of experience in world affairs.

"I found her quite a capable woman," Karzai said later. "She asked the right questions on Afghanistan."

The self-described "hockey mom" also asked former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger for insights on Georgia, Russia, China and Iran, and she'll see more leaders Wednesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.

It was shuttle diplomacy, New York-style. At several points, Palin's motorcade got stuck in traffic and New Yorkers, unimpressed with the flashing lights, sirens and police officers in her group, simply walked between the vehicles to get across the street. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, three hours behind Palin in seeing Karzai, found herself overshadowed for a day as she made her own rounds.

John McCain's presidential campaign has shielded the first-term Alaska governor for weeks from spontaneous questions from voters and reporters, and went to striking lengths Tuesday to maintain that distance as Palin made her diplomatic debut.

The GOP campaign, applying more restrictive rules on access than even President Bush uses in the White House, banned reporters from the start of the meetings, so as not to risk a question being asked of Palin.

Why doesn’t Sarah Palin want to talk with the mainstream media??? They only want to help her.

I think I know what the McCain people are doing.

1. They are keeping Sarah on message and letting Biden be Biden. A walking gaffe machine, he subtly undermines Barack.

2. McCain knows that Sarah is a much stronger debater and screen presence than the MSM suspects. So, keeping her in the bubble will force the media to dumb her down before the Big Debate, which will draw as many if not more viewers than the McCain-Obama match.

3. As a result, if, as I suspects, she knocks the debate out of the park, she becomes an instant superstar and screen presence and McCain will turn her loose in the country. Huge crowds. Big Time Boo-yah.

I’m convinced that McCain is playing possum with her.

Best,

Chris

The truth is that Sarah is going on Katie Couric’s CBS show next week.

The MSM can watch that if they care to. The less exposure to the liberal media, the better.

Gee — why do you think the press wanted to be in there? You wouldn’t think they would be waiting for a gaffe on Sara’s part, do you? Naw— the press wouldn’t do that -— or -— would they?

Excellent.

A link to that website should be a required addition to every “journalist’s” byline.

Sarh Kugler is deeply lonely (she went to Costa Rica alone):

http://travel.msn.com/Guides/article.aspx?cp-documentid=345530

Sarah Palin (mother of five, loving wife to a loving husband) is not:

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://tizona.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/sarah_palin_02.jpg&imgrefurl=http://hillbuzz.wordpress.com/2008/08/29/meet-sarah-palin/&h=451&w=673&sz=156&hl=en&start=5&usg=__HwUJ2rhFdcy6tdX—T4ffDFLzjo=&tbnid=c-PjFcXkaI08nM:&tbnh=92&tbnw=138&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsarah%2Bpalin%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG

This tells you all you need to know about media bias. Much of it is envy, especially from the women. They wish they had what Sarah has.

“At this point in time, McCain should just put all the cards on the table and tell the AP/ABC/CBS/NYT/Charles Gibson/etc to cover their candidates (Democrats), and that his own campaign will allow access by the WSJ/NY Post/Wa Times/Sean Hannity/etc.
Cut off all access immediately, let the public know why, and end this BS once and for all. It is not doing McCain or Palin a bit of good to pretend like they are being covered objectively by any of the leftist media.”

######

Bullseye.

I’ve been saying that since the lightning bolt that is Sarah Palin first struck. It takes a conservative with great personal charm, ala Ronald Reagan, connected directly to the American public, but it can and should be done.

Yes. Tell the world why you are doing it and as you so excellently state, “end this BS once and for all.”

I love her. Of course you a kidding as you love her too. She really makes ones heart beat strong and I am a 68 year old geezer. Her other amazing characteristic is she has more talent and skill than probably a dozen other politicians put together.
