This came down as an "alert" from the AP...the latest whine from the Drive Bys.
Palin, while in New York, is meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday.
The press was told photogs and a camera crew could go in, but no so-called journalists who pretend to be reporters.
Can someone post the crybaby picture?
It's especially sweet that this took place in New York, home of the Gray - er, ummmm... - "Lady". :-)
However, simply claiming that some entity is "The Press" by no means makes it so. In many ways, we are all the press. This is especially true with the internet.
She isn't hiding from them. She wasn't hiding from Gibson when he tried to "grill" her. She didn't hide from Hannity. And she won't hide from Perky Katie either. She will speak to the press on HER terms, and not when the latest democrat talking points say that she should.
That’s only true if you’re dealing with a TRUE FREE PRESS, not the biased, agenda-driven propagandists that are currently controlling the MSM. The more we curtail their access the more they will realize that Americans appreciate TRUE journalists, and NOT partisan hacks. REAL journalists should be awarded a LOT of access, exclusive interviews, etc... etc... That’s the way it used to work, at least as it appears to me (I’m a youngin’). Journalists used to be respected for fair and balanced news. There are very, very few journalists nowadays (at least in the National MSM).
I suspect that you could probably find some gems across the country that would LOVE to come to Washington though. Maybe that’s how the White House Press Passes should be handed out with this next administration. Forget those who say - well, I’ve been here so long you HAVE to let us in (like Helen Thomas). Go to major papers around the country and search out the GOOD journalists, and invite THEM to Washington. Then maybe the MSM IN Washington will get a clue?
At least that’s all JMHO. Over the last 8 years we have seen more than our fair share of “enemy” behavior from the ranks of the “journalistic elite” (i.e. The New York Times). Something has to be done, and this, IMHO, is a good first step. I would never dream of curtailing the press’s right to print stories on whatever topic they wanted, however, that doesn’t mean they have to have full access. Press Releases should suffice. For those who ask genuine questions, even TOUGH questions (not propaganda driven leading questions) - reward them as I said before.
ABDNC is still mad that she didn’t give them DNA samples of her baby. Hey Left Stream press, just make it up like usual.
Pray for W, Sarah and Our Freedom Fighters
It’s not as if she completely barred EVERYONE from the meetings. You don’t think if there was something very seriously wrong that went on in the meeting the cameramen, and photogs wouldn’t have run to their editors and spilled the beans?
In general, I do agree with you. There should be open meetings - they are after all answerable to US. However, you also have to realize that the ones in this country that are currently “responsible” for disseminating the information gleaned from those meetings wouldn’t be giving us the TRUTH about those meetings anyway, right? ESPECIALLY not if there were a Dem President (they would protect him), and especially not if it were a Rep President (whom they would vilify as they have done with Bush).
So you see, we are at a real impasse here. Unless, and until, the journalistic profession decides to go back to being ethical, and prizing unbiased news. Or, the MSM “in charge” currently is replaced by REAL journalists, or even with citizen journalists.
Wrong.
All meetings involving government officials can be made public, outside of national security issues, without the commercial media, or any MSM dialog being involved.
Rip the doors off their government offices and lets monitor their every move. Lets end the behind the scenes meetings with those insiders, lobbyist and those with special interest.
We now have all witnessed what government is capable of when they are afforded the element of secrecy.
It all depends what "The Press"means, to quote a famous former President...
You still have to decide WHO is going to do the overseeing. As I said, I agree government meetings should be open with the exception of national security issues.
It’s a great thought that we could rip off the doors and waltz in to any meeting we, as citizens, wished, but there are security issues to think about to (i.e. do you want someone like Bill Ayers in the Capitol building, or any of the other leftist hacks/terrorists?)...
As I said - WHO is going to oversee these meetings on behalf of the public? You said there is no need for the MSM, or commercial media being involved. However, there would need to be SOME kind of oversight here...
You couldn’t have just ANYONE waltz in to these meetings - nor would you really want just anyone to be there. After all, say you are having a meeting on health care, or economics... Without requisite education it may be very hard to understand what is really being discussed and how it would affect the nation, good or bad.
As I stated - I’m all for it - opening up these meetings. Ending the crap that goes on with lobbyists and such behind closed doors. I’m just having trouble seeing how we could actually implement these ideas. Someone, somewhere would have to decide WHO is going to be “in on” these meetings. Someone, somewhere would have to decide how the information would be released to the public.
I’m not saying it can’t be done, but there needs to be more thought put behind this if you want it to really happen, you know?
You also have to take into account that I’d bet a LOT of the lobbyists and Senators and such do NOT hold “big” meetings... I think a LOT of what they do is during “lunches” and “dinners”. The only way to stop these things would be to have someone IN the government that had the gravitas to STOP these lobbied bills on behalf of corporations, etc... Honestly, it sounds like Sarah Palin would be a good choice - or at least she represents the kind of person we would need in there to weed out some of these things...
I’ll think on this more myself, but as it stands I don’t see how we could implement your wishes right now, in reality...
So tired of everyone referring to the Liberal Democrat Media Talking heads as Drive-By’s and Main Stream Media. Those labels mean nothing to the uniformed apolitical crowd.
Rush, et al, need to make “LEFT WING MEDIA” a common phrase when discussing all lefty media which attempts to project themselves as neutral.
Many people are unaware of the Liberal media bias. We need to be on Offense, while the LEFT WING MEDIA needs to be on defense. Those unaware need to know that the likes of Matt Lauer is a Democrat first and foremost. As is Larry King, Anderson Cooper, Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson et al. Call them Biased Liberal Democrats instead of journalists. They are Liberal Democrats and are part of the LEFT WING MEDIA. These so called journalists are Democrats. They are affiliated with a political party and it's time that they own up to their political bias.
Obama didn’t have press in with his meetings either, so far as I remember.

It's really simple and uncomplicated.
We now have all witnessed what government is capable of when they are afforded the element of secrecy.
No video.
Well, worse than that, read the constitution, there is nothing in there about slavery! Nothing. There is no reason to believe that slavery was a right. People just assumed. And that is why we needed an ammendment to declare it wrong.
“I assume the video will be viewable.”
And I would imagine that they perhaps even captured sound using those new-fangled microphone dealies! Gee - I wonder if will ever see these? Although I suppose they could do wonders with their editing and just show a Palin Bloopers at the U.N. video.
Looks like it’s gone now. If I can find it in the archives I’ll post a new link for you.
Yes, unequivocally!
The 'Press' has as much 'right' to attend their meetings as they do to attend your meeting of friends and others at the local gin mill for the ball game. If one of those Maggots intruded in my conversation, they would be politely told to butt out -- the first time. David Gregory I'd deck and toss!
Why do I get the sense you are, or are related to, a Maggot reporter?
I love this woman...
Well, OK then... Now that you’ve ignored everything I said, and repeated the entirety of your previous post it makes PERFECT sense NOW! I’m so honored that you would take the time to repeat yourself to little ol’ me!
In that case, I say you get a plane ticket to Washington ASAP then and bring along a battering ram, and some recording devices (I’m thinking several thousand should suffice - and don’t forget to hit all the restaurants in DC, as well as any bathrooms as well!)
Definitely, be sure to let us know how this works out for you - unless of course we see you on our local news, or CNN first...
After all, if it’ll be that “simple” and “easy” then surely you won’t have a problem doing it yourself, right? THANKS in advance!
