Palin Bans Reporters From Meetings With World Leaders (Only TV Crew/Photographers Allowed)
AP (no link)

Posted on 09/23/2008 8:22:15 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

This came down as an "alert" from the AP...the latest whine from the Drive Bys.

Palin, while in New York, is meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. The meetings are scheduled for Tuesday.

The press was told photogs and a camera crew could go in, but no so-called journalists who pretend to be reporters.

Can someone post the crybaby picture?

Amen. I believe God heard our cries and prayers, opened McCains heart and allowed him to pick Sarah. However, I do believe, HE will be leaving the rest up to us. So far, so good!

“DID I miss it?”
First, the word was no “reporters” allowed at Palin meetings with VIPs. Then word that one “CNN producer” would be allowed in (with photogs). Some saying it’s a cave or a reversal. No big deal, IMO.

Did Obama have reporters present in talks during his trip? I think not. You make a statement either before or after.

That is EXACTLY what she should do!

Screw the talking heads. Let them embarrass themselves as they analyze what actually happened, rather than having “made news.”

This appears to a a fabricated slight of the media. You are correct that the only reason they wanted reporters there is to badger Palin in front of world leaders, then they can make snarky comments on SNL.

The press thinks this is pretty good, too, because they can feed their “Sarah’s a Pretty Dummy” meme by pretending those mean old Republicans are cloistering an incompetent cadidate.

IRT this, I trust his instincts above hers.

I really admire your dedication and commitment.
I do agree with you philosophically.

Why don't you put your money where your mouth is, and start by ripping all the doors off the offices of the Hussein "Slime Machine?"

80% or 90% of Reagan Conservatism is just believing in ourselves again.

Sarah is bringing that back.

AMERICA IS BACK BABY !

I plan on voting for Sarah Palin in November, and John McCain’s on the ticket too, isn’t he?

For instance, there is a legitimate need to develop personal rapport, since all negotiation is personal.

I disagree. There is nothing personal happening when elected government officials meet behind closed doors. Outside of national security issues, there should be no private, closed door meetings. They cannot be trusted.

My point is government officials need to be scrutinized and monitored by the American public constantly. There should be no closed door meetings ever. The results of meetings with insiders, lobbyist and others with specialist interest are now painfully obvious to all.

“The quote presumes common standards of civility, common courtesy and respect for the event.”

Sheesh. Tell it to Gates. He’s the one who told the USNA class of 2007 “The press is not the enemy and to treat it as such is self-defeating.”

I’m sure he didn’t put it in the context of “civility, common courtesy and respect”, especially if you’ve seen the DoD press corps at work.

Besides, what kind of strategy would it have been if she did not do the Charles Gibson interview? She engaged him and cleaned his clock. If she hadn’t she couldn’t have.

Me, too.

He was apologizing to Whoopi on The View after she asked him if, when he became president, if his policies would reinstitute slavery.

The guy couldn't say, “I understand your concerns,” enough.

The MSM attempts to set the rules, and to define the enemy.

Or at least they did before Governor Palin slapped them down.

To quote Robert Gates at the 2007 USNA graduation: ...the Founding Fathers wisely understood that the Congress, a free press and a nonpolitical military are needed in a free country. “The press is not the enemy and to treat it as such is self-defeating,” he said.

The military largely views the press as the enemy. I mean that both literally and figuratively.

Gates's point is that since he and the Pentagon are not going to tell the media the truth, for reasons ranging from serious to trivial, and since the media is going to expose whatever truth they can get their hands on as payback, even if service members die because of it, it would make his job easier if nobody took this process personally.

You could write a book on this phenomenon, but suffice to say, the context here is to a different audience than a civilian leader.

We’ll see how long CNN’s snit lasts before it crawls back to the governor and asks her to reestablish it access. McCain needs to freeze it out as well.

Obviously, he needed to leave his job.

In all our prior “wars,” the press was muzzled. World War 1 and World War 2 were greatly helped by the censorship of Washington.

“...start by ripping all the doors off the offices of the Hussein “Slime Machine?” “

The issue for discussion was whether on not it was a wise move to bar the press from her remarks.

There are so many others who are more capable and who have the forum to do so.

Mongo just pawn in game of life.
