While not to the same level, this is a milder (and would have grown) version of watergate and we all know the media downplayed that.
Do you guys remember when some Dem staffers left a memo on a shared drive that summed up the kinds of judges that all the special interests were asking Ted Kennedy to make sure to not confirm? Some Republican staffer reads it and turns it over, but the MSM acted as if he was some kind of hacker who had broken into a secret server and stolen internal Dem communications. Ted Kennedy called for an investigation into the ‘data theft’ and never commented on the fact that all these special interests were directly ordering Kennedy whose nominations he should try to quash. MSM ran with Kennedy’s view on the situation and they lost the important part of the story.

Palin used "gov.sarah" in one of her Yahoo e-mail addresses she sometimes uses to conduct state business. The hacker targeted her separate "gov.palin" account.
This is only relevant to the story if your goal is to add to the confusion. If you're skimming you read "gov.sarah uses her personal email address to conduct state business"
He committed a felony and should be prosecuted and suffer the full consequences for his crime. If he used the university’s computer network in committing this crime he should be kicked out of school.
They should destroy this kid to serve as a warning to others who might get the same idea. Knowing this Justice Department, he’ll probably get a stern frowny face stamped on his hand and his dad will be a top US Senator in a few years.

OK, so the owner of the "Internet Anonymity Service" rolls over like a trained dog when questioned by the FBI. So much for the 'anonymity' part of the service
"I think he just didn't realize the severity of what he was doing until afterwards," Ramuglia said.
Huh? Why publish this guy's comment on the crime his service helped facilitate? Of what value is his opinion? Minimizing the crime might also minimize the impact on his business, but there's still the matter of relevance the main story.
If you wanted to visit a web site, but did not want your true IP address to be recorded on their log files, you can use a service like ctunnel.com, as the hacker did. It's fairly simple to use with your web browser. Just go to that site and enter the URL of the web site you wish to visit anonymously.
In this case, the hacker violated the terms of service for CTunnel, so the operator apparently had no reservations about giving the information to the FBI.
Thanks. That clears it up. But isn’t the very purpose of the service sort of offered with a ‘Nod & a Wink’?
