On last nights Saturday Night Live, there was an eight minute clip that focused on the NY Times coverage of Sarah Palin.
The skit addressed a fictional meeting where the Peter Conolly Assignment Editor of the NY Times explains his plans to send 50 reporters to Alaska, to dig dirt on the Palins.
The media may try to play this off as SNL bringing up the topic of incest in the Palin household. The real story is that SNL framed the NY Times and it's staff for precisely what kind of tactics they have used against the Palins so far. The management and the reporters for the times were skewered here, and it was amazingly over the top.
Folks, this was a great skit. You'll have to see it to believe it, and I have posted the 8:04 minute clip on YouTube for you to see.
Enjoy.
Good comedy has a kernel of truth to it. This NY Times thing is funny because NY Times reporters in real life come off as being Manhattan elitists and the NY Times in real life comes off as trying to slime Sarah Palin
What was the kernel of truth last week about Sarah Palin that made it funny? Seems to me the humor was based on politically motivated leftwing elitist, lies.
LOL, good one
Thanks for posting a rational thread on this.
My niece and nephew are on their 2nd and 3rd years working in Manhattan. One in show biz and the other for a magazine. It scares me what they are learning there. Of course, when I lived in Los Angeles, I became much more conservative and opened my eyes to the savagery of the left.
What was funny last week was Hillary's ambition to be President.
It takes a comedy skit to set the record straight.
Pretty funny — especially for post-funny era SNL. They even razzed the Times reporters for not knowing anything about guns.
It sure did bring out the stupidity of the media....lol....
The *BEST* thing that could happen to the staff and writers if SNL is a McCain and Palin victory. There’s no way to make Biden funny, and great limits as to what they could do to Obama, but in their sheer self interest would be having our side win.
Since Hillary isn’t running for anything, that’s easy for them.
You should be wondering where the Obama jokes are.
And the skit opened with the accusation that Sarah Palin’s husband was sleeping with her daughters.
Calling a bottom of the gutter sexist political whisper campaign “funny” just isn’t.
What was funny last week was Hillary's ambition to be President.
So then you agree that the content of what the Sarah character said last week wasn't funny.
And you missed the fact that Democratic Minnesota Senate candidate Al Frankin wrote that opening scene.
That wasn’t a “perceived slight”, sweets. Bernhardt said Palin better not come to Manhattan because she would raped by her big black brothers.
That’s a PERCEIVED SLIGHT to you?
oooookay.
It was a mock of the NYT.
He did work with SNL on the opening skit. I didn’t miss it and I didn’t address it. If you would like to, go ahead and explain why you didn’t like it. I’d imagine most folks would agree with you.
This sketch doesn’t have a “kernel of truth”, more like the whole damned ear!
