I think these results would be similar even if the Dem candidate was named “Satan”.

Frank Lautenberg is showing increasing weakness with the voters. If Zimmer can raise some major cash, this is an upset waiting to happen.

Frank Lautenberg 47%

See kids, in New Jersey, not only can the dead vote, they can also hold high office.

If enough FReepers would pull their heads from their behinds and at least entertain the possibility of Zimmer winning, this could be a serious pick-up opportunity.

Can Zimmer Steal Lautenberg's Senate Seat for the GOP?

Congress is doing a terrible job say the voters, but our own senators are good guys. It seems that the voters are mentally challenged.

I wouldn;t vote for Zimmer if somebody put a gun to my head.
I’d rather vote for an indpendent, write in Joe Pennachio or not vote for Senator at all.

Zimmer is a willing tool of Tom McKean and his band of super-rich, socially liberal New Jersey RINOs. They are the people who NEVER come out and support conservative Republicans but expect the dumb conservatives to support thier boys.

TO heck with Zimmer and the Keans and all their ilk.

New Jersey should change it’s motto from ‘the garden state’ to ‘the stuck on stupid state.’ Because so many voters in NJ know nothing about anything, democrat crooks keep stealing and stealing from the taxpayers who actually work for a living. But what will happen to NJ when all of those actual working people decide enough is enough and move to another state? How will the super-charged democrat machine explain to the dumbfounded citizens of Newark, Elizabeth, Camden and Trenton that the ‘good times’ have, at last, come to an end?

True but if his name was Satan Hitler it would cost them a point, maybe a point and a quarter. The Hasidim in Bergen would know the difference.

That’s no different than voting for Lautenberg. I agree that Zimmer is far from ideal, but no conservative in NJ should be helping out the Lautenberg campaign.

I live in Fair Lawn, they walk back and forth to Syanagogue in front of my house. Unfortunately a lot of the Jewish people here are mindless when it comes to politics, they can only parrot the same old garbage, no matter how smart they are in other subjects.

The New Jersey GOP is irrelevant. If you have to choose between real liberals and fake liberals, go for the real liberals every time. That's why the RINOs no longer matter in the Northeast. They've all been replaced by Democrats.

Lautenberg is weak on homeland security. He voted against FISA legislation and John Doe Amendment. Zimmer should make this an issue.

He should also campaign against Corzine tax increases. As in, send Corzine a message by voting for me.

Am I reading the other results right? Obama us up only 4 over McCain?? Hard to believe. I think a couple of other polls showed it would not be a blowout though the Dems were comfortably ahead. This SV poll is surprising and encouraging anyway.

More proof of why I will never live in NJ again. (yes, I used to live there.) Only 14% approve of Congress, yet 47% will vote in Lautenburg again. Unbelievable. Maybe democracy is dead after all.

No conservative should be helping Tom Kean. He’s a far worse enemy than the Rats. At least you know where you stand with the Rats. Kean senior attempted to hlep Bill Clinton in both his presidential campaigns, believes in “reparations” to black Americans, is opposed to the Second Amendment, presided ovr the 9-11 Commission and told ordinary citizens to “butt out” when they questioned Jamie Gorelick’s apprpriateness on the committee. Tom Kean Senior also thought Chrissie Whitman was “too conservative” to run for governor of New Jersey. And now he has manipulated the system to replace Leonard Lance as Senate Minority leader withhis “boy” Tom Kean Jr.

This blowhard Tom Kean Senior was invovled in getting Pennachio, a conservative, beaten by Zimmer in the primary. Zimmer was the TTHIRD puppet of his to run against Pennachio, the first tow having been forced out for various reasons.

The Republican Party in New Jersey is totally ineffective - in large part to creatures like Tom Kean Senior who refuse to support philosphical Republicans and choose instead to run philosophical Democrats as Republicans.

I hope Zimmer loses.
