Mustering!
Abraham Lincoln knew what it meant to face criticism. He is quoted as saying, If I were to try to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for any other business. I do the very best I know howthe very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out all right, whats said against me wont amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference.
Lincoln, against huge opposition, went on to reunite the fractured United States, win the Civil War, and abolish slavery in the US. Had he allowed his critics to defeat him, Lincoln would not have accomplished what he did.
The apostle Peter understood the dangers of unfounded criticism. He wrote, Having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God (1 Peter 2:12).
Criticism can consume our lives to the point of emotional paralysis, or we can set our hearts to serve God faithfully undeterred by that criticism and put our God on display. When we do that, we wont need to answer our critics with wordsour lives will say all that is needed.
Evening friend. What a neat thread! Thanks!
G'evening, all!

Evening, Lauren, Kathy.
Great thread, (((Lauren)))!
Go Marines!
God bless them and ALL our heroes around the world!
Reporting in Drive-By Mode from the Bluegrass, Sarge has a HURRICANE IKE update!
Louisville KY got hit hard - 250K out of power, 1 dead and 14 injured, estimates of outages up to a week.
My National Guard unit got called up - I am sending this from a motel room where the stand-by team is holed up. We have Civil Support missions all over the state. The State Womens’ Prison lost all power, and the Guard has to provide backup generators for power for the facility. That’s the mission I’m on for tomorrow.
We’re on duty for at least four days, but I have my laptop to check in when I can.
On the personal front: Sarge was at Drill Weekend, headed home in the storm, when Clifford The Big Red Truck dropped his transmission on the interstate. My AAA-Plus membership paid for itself, when the wrecker appeared and dragged the carcass home through wind and fallen trees.
Once home, Sarge walked the neighborhood, checking on folks up and down the street. Two houses were demolished when old-growth trees fell on top of them. Streets were blocked, and traffic was snarled by blocked roads and dead stoplights. Only a few gas stations are open; there have been no gas deliveries.
The Home Detachment never lost power of Internet, but every house in the neighborhood was affected. Missus and The Boy were at a birthday party at Chucky Cheese’s, when the management closed the place and evacuated. They hunkered down in a bookstore nearby until the storm passed (break Missus’s heart, to be trapped in a bookstore!)...
That’s all for now, everyone. Getting up at 0500 for the next mission...

Good morning, Everyone. Good morning to our AWESOME military, our allies, and their families
Thank you, Lauren, for preparing the Canteen for todays activities. This place is right up the street from me. When I used to work way uptown I walked past this place on my way to the subway. Cleanest block in the city!
Now for our local DC Metroland weather report
~ Today....Generally cloudy. High near 75F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph.
~Tonight....Partly cloudy. Low near 60F. Winds light and variable.
WOW. What a stressful time it's been here at FR. Plus, yesterday I think our connections to the internet must have been having problems - UNLESS it was the WWW itself that was having problems. All I know is that I could connect to some places but not others. FR happened to be one that I didn't get access to until later yesterday.
So, now I have to try to catch up on all the pings.
Time for me to make my rounds. But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!
Now remember, the Canteen is ALWAYS
So, come on in and sit for a while. There's always plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS
REMEMBER THEM
