The Real Sarah Palin Laughs Along With Tina Fey's Impression (Sarah Laughs At SNL Skit Alert)
CBS News ^ | 9/14/2008 | Scott Conroy

The true extent to which Palin-mania has come to dominate the TV news cycle hit home for me last night as I flipped through the channels on the Palin campaign’s charter flight from Reno to Denver. Within a period of about a half hour, I caught the much-anticipated debut of Tina Fey as Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night,” as well as seperate Palin documentaries on MSNBC and CNN.

Tina Fey was such a dead ringer for Palin that I was tempted to open the curtains that separate the governor and her staff from the media to make sure she was still on the plane and hadn’t managed to sneak off to Manhattan to appear live on the show.

One of the more biting pieces of satire came at the beginning of the sketch when Amy Poehler’s rendition of Hillary Clinton standing beside Palin said, "I believe that diplomacy should be the cornerstone of any foreign policy.”

"And I can see Russia from my house,” Fey as Palin replied.

According to her spokesperson Tracey Schmitt, the real Sarah Palin had a good laugh along with the press corps in the back of the plane and millions of Americans at home.

“She thought it was quite funny, particularly because she once dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween,” Schmitt said.

I couldn’t believe how much they look alike.

i remember a couple of months ago when freepers were posting pictures of Sarah Palin and i thought it was Tina Fey... and honestly, i wondered, what does Tina Fey have to do with this thread?

Are you SURE that wasn't Sarah Palin? LOL

She did a great job, didn't she?

Tina Fey as Tina Fey

do the hair, put on the glasses, the suit - and then she absolutely NAILED the voice and mannerisms...too too funny.

And I love that the real Sarah laughed at it too = that's he difference between "us" and "them" - they have no humor. That's the litmus test to tell libs from pubbies...

It’s something of a compliment. It entered the pop culture through the film ‘American Pie’. A lot like he Freepers who say, "I'd hit it."

If you google MILF, DO NOT click on the links or you will be very, ah, surprised.

And if you click on them at work, you will be very fired.

Sure it was humor but alot of the times the humor back fires. You can see Russia from Alaska.

I think this was a fair hit, in their words. It's a pretty lame way to claim foreign policy bona fides.

If Sarah can provide a list of Russian and Canadian officials she has met with, and what they discussed, then fine. Border state governors do that all the time with their counterparts and it is clearly relevant to the job she is seeking. But this "you can see Russia from Alaska" meme is ridiculous and nobody on either side buys it.

And I say this as one who is absolutely dazzled by the Sarah phenomenon, and willing to follow her lead to total victory or the gates of Hell.

I saw that and was cracking up. Can someone please tell me what a MILF is? I have no idea what it could mean.

Moro Islamic Liberation Front - A Philipino terrorist group

Or Jennifer Coolidge in American Pie

Depends on the context

Read about Wally Hickel’s travels to Russia and who was behind Palin’s campaign.

http://www.adn.com/opinion/comment/story/525454.html

“I joined Sarah Palin’s bid for governor as her campaign co-chairman during the 2006 primary. Since her election, I have applauded her efforts to strengthen ethics laws, oil and gas taxes, and her attempt to create a competitive process to find the best plan to build a natural gas pipeline from the North Slope to market.

My most serious disagreement with her was when her gas line team readily accepted a bid from TransCanada to build a cross-Canada gas line but rejected those applicants who wanted to build an all-Alaska gas line to ship liquefied natural gas to the U.S. West Coast and world markets.”

Read about AGPA and you will start to understand how well she knows the Russians.

When it comes to energy, foreign policy and Gazprom, she is fast learner. I have watched her evolve from her early days of supporting AGPA, to taking a different course from Hickel.

Read about Sempra, Sakhalin, LNG in Mexico to get an understanding on Russia and Gazprom.

Moreover, the Russian culture of old is deep in Alaska’s history.

I was channel surfing earlier tonight and saw a generally pretty positive piece on Gov. Palin on (of all places) Entertainment Tonight. Good comment by her about the unrealistic world portrayed by Hollywood.

No, she's a Hillary turned Obama supporter.

But I did love the line about Governor Palin wearing Tina Fey glasses.
