Read about Wally Hickel’s travels to Russia and who was behind Palin’s campaign.

“I joined Sarah Palin’s bid for governor as her campaign co-chairman during the 2006 primary. Since her election, I have applauded her efforts to strengthen ethics laws, oil and gas taxes, and her attempt to create a competitive process to find the best plan to build a natural gas pipeline from the North Slope to market.
My most serious disagreement with her was when her gas line team readily accepted a bid from TransCanada to build a cross-Canada gas line but rejected those applicants who wanted to build an all-Alaska gas line to ship liquefied natural gas to the U.S. West Coast and world markets.”
Read about AGPA and you will start to understand how well she knows the Russians.
When it comes to energy, foreign policy and Gazprom, she is fast learner. I have watched her evolve from her early days of supporting AGPA, to taking a different course from Hickel.
Read about Sempra, Sakhalin, LNG in Mexico to get an understanding on Russia and Gazprom.
Moreover, the Russian culture of old is deep in Alaska’s history.
Can you provide some more suggested reading (links)?
The Walter Hickel piece was generally positive, but, I roamed around ADN a bit: It seems to cater to mostly the 20% who don’t like Gov. Palin? Or maybe I just happened to read the wrong articles / comments...
I also didn’t see much in the article (link to ADN) about Russia.
