To: Alas Babylon!

Morning Ladies, Gems, AB....

...Can’t hang around long, got mass this morning and tada...mother-in-law is visiting this weekend.

She is from Massachusetts and folks something’s gotten to the woman.

She HATES Sarah Palin, thinks she ought to stay home with her five children and leave Vice-Presidenting to a man. She thinks John McCain is way too old to be President although she, herself, is 79 years old, 80 this coming October.

She says that we shouldn’t hold William Ayers and Rezko against Obama (who she thinks is a very nice young man and for whom she seriously thinks she will vote) because Obama disavowed those shady characters and that’s good enough for her.

She thinks Dubya will go down as the worst president ever and we had no business going into Iraq.

On and on it goes folks and even with my amazing rhetoric skills I am unable to make a dent in the liberal mindset.

Oh....and she gives Sarah Palin no credit for giving birth to her retarded child. She says Palin should not be condemned necessarily for having the child but such things should not be encouraged.

My husband, and her son, tells me his mother done went over the edge. Her other son, who lives in Massachusetts but is miserable with that state killing families and ignoring the will of the voters, does his best to get through to his mother but....alas.

It’s awful, folks. She’s not a stupid woman, not at all. She is originally from the Midwest as is my husband. The rest of the family is conservative but as she gets older she gets more insanely liberal and as my husband says, she sits around in her senior community in that liberal hell hole and gets her mind twisted and tortured.

Anyway, will check back later.

Ms Fishtalk

Your comment re being from the Midwest warms my heart. We here in Illinois feel your pain on a more local basis a la Mary Mitchell.

PS tell your M-in-law to try to pronounce her A's and R's better. See how that goes over.

I just came back from visiting my 88 year old mother (who just had her second knee replacement) and she is so excited about Palin. I talked to one of her friends, an 89 year old WWII Vet, and he too is now excited and believes McCain will indeed win it. We all agreed that the media is out to destroy Palin but their efforts are backfiring. And, old people vote.

I’ll watch FNS and Reliable Sources and report as I can. MTP although still number one in the numbers game is boring as ever. Brokaw doesn’t do his homework like Russert used to and he just doesn’t seem all that interested in doing the show.

I hope to hear lots of talk about how Charlie Gibson gave a false representation of his Palin interview; Charlie has joined the ranks of the propagandists. Hopefully Reliable Sources will report on that (but....Kurtz is part of the good old boy network and will probably protect and defend his liberal buddy Charlie).

was she for Hillary before she was for Obama?

Maybe the PUMAs are your only hope?

try
http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net

They have a fantastic Obama archive over there full of stuff.
My personal favorite is their video clips of Obama flipping Hillary the bird.
An accident? An itch on his cheek?

But they were able to then find him doing the exact same thing for another audience. Same speech - same part of the speech (talking about Hillary) - the finger comes out again.

Punk - classless - unpresidential puke of a guy.

I convinced a liberal ex from MA to vote Nader, since Gore would just win MA anyway so he might as well as do a protest vote. Do that with your MIL.

Does your mother-in-law still have a portrait of JFK on her wall?

Often, when seniors get sick (or know someone who is) they go over to the dark side, politically.

They'll vote for whomever will "stick" someone else with end-of-life medical and other expenses.

And they get nasty when questioned about it because their consciences bother them.

An elderly friend of mine went on an anti-McCain rant back at the break of the seven houses “scandal”. Then, I reminded her that she has five houses (rentals, like the McCains along with a vacation cabin) and she got quiet real fast......

I have an older cousin who spent her entire working lifetime in DC in government. She has been emailing my conservative sister in AZ with the same comment. Talk about BDS, they have PDS bigtime!

I was in ASDA on Saturday and family behind me had a downs child he was a little hyper but trying to help by putting the shopping on the belt. I noticed how exact he wanted to line it up and put items tightly packed he seemed to so intent on this. I gave the mother a big smile and the child and thought at the time I have Sarah Palin to thank for appreciating this touching scene. Any other week and probably would have been irritated with his behaviour or not even noticed him.

It has also challenged me to talk to the lads next door when I see them, the house next door I think was purchased by social services and has 4 or 5 20 year old living there with learning difficulties 2 of which are downs lads.
