Each Alaskan got over $2,000 this year in oil royalties. Man, woman, child. Even Democrats. Amazing, isn’t it? I think Democrats should be forced to give up their share.

The Democrat Mafia would no way give that up to us peons in the states. They want to keep it for themselves to skim off the top, pay for their pet projects (such as the Garage to Nowhere) and then refill union and Democrat coffers.

Why are they blocking Virgina from getting tax money from oil off their coast? The feds don't do squat and they want all the taxes?

The more oil there is the market, the cheaper oil is. Plus you aren’t dealing with the crooked OPEC.

Do Nothing Nancy’s Drilling Bill is a permanent ban on drilling. What’s New?
The only question is if the Repubs are this stupid?

The GOP should not allow a rat bill to pass congress. Just let the drilling moratorium expire on Oct 1, 2008.

If we play our cards right we may take back congress this year.

The republicans need to fight any new legislation to keep it from coming to a vote or passing and simply let the ban expire. It's the only way they'll prove they are serious about earning the trust of the people again. Then maybe I'll consider donating to the RNC at some point or at least specific conservative house leadership.

At least the House is fighting for something.

In light of the run up in gasoline prices caused by the mere prospect of the refineries being interrupted by Ike, we should be screaming about the situation. Why are there no new refineries? Why are they all located where they are vulnerable to interruption from weather?

We have, according to oil company reports yesterday, a 20 day supply of gasoline. An expected 5 to 7 day shut down in refining is already creating panic buying and pricing.

Why are we allowing politicians to continue to hold us hostage to their thirst for power?

I'm sick to death of politicians playing games with our lives and livelihoods. Housecleaning (and Senate-cleaning) is in order. We need to put as much attention on weeding out Congress as is being focused on the Presidential elections. And then on to the State Legislatures. They are all complicit in this farce. They all view our natural resources as their own to tax as they see fit. It's time to start reminding politicians that they own nothing, they produce nothing, and they do nothing except take from those that do produce.
