Swift boating 2008
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 9/11/8 | Debra J. Saunders

Posted on 09/12/2008 8:04:32 AM PDT by SmithL

"You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," Sen. Barack Obama said Tuesday - thereby spawning one of those vacuous debates that will consume at least two days of air time on cable news talk shows.

Thank Sen. John McCain's campaign for holding a press call afterward asking Obama to apologize for comparing running mate Sarah Palin to a pig. And then you get instant mindless controversy.

Obama dismissed the gambit as "phony outrage." And: "Nobody actually believes that these folks are offended." No lie. It's why folks call this the silly season.

Obama also had said, "You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called 'change;' it's still going to stink after eight years." What next? Will McCain's Navy demand that Obama apologize to old fish, too?

As for Obama, he too has climbed on to the fake umbrage platform. Note how the instant anyone criticizes him, Obama decries "Swift boat politics" - evoking the independent 2004 campaign that took on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry's war record and character.

Obama just can't help himself. The Democratic nominee brought up the "Swift boat" ads again Wednesday - undeterred by the left's series of scurrilous personal attacks against GOP vice presidential candidate Palin and her family. It started with a Daily Kos story alleging that Palin was actually the grandmother of her infant son Trig.

But it didn't end there. The folks at Factcheck.org felt compelled to respond to a flood of falsehoods being spread about Palin.

It's a day late, but still a worthwhile read.

In that spirit, South Carolina Democratic Chairwoman Carol Fowler, told politico.com that Palin's "primary qualification seems to be that she hasn't had an abortion." If I were Obama, I'd stow the Swift boat laments.
Swiftboating requires true facts, of which, the Rats have NONE!

It is incredible how much of this stuff Obama brings on himself and then gets used against him by the more savvy McCain. The master is giving the apprentice a lesson in politics.

It’s not that McCain’s savvy, it’s that he’s finally hired some savvy people.

I hope Hussein keep whining about being 'swiftboated'.

First, it shows him to be a WHINER.

Second, it reminds everyone of how similar he is to John Kerry.

Third, he loses more of what little support in the military he has (as the swiftees were military men--good, honest, and decent).

Fourth, it reminds most people (except for the loonies on the far left)--that what the Swiftees said was "FACT"!

Keep it up, Hussein.

Now maybe Palin will stumble and show the country that she is not ready to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. But the Democrats can’t wait for that day, or limit the debate to the issues,

because they want so much to destroy this backwoods upstart.

The big problem is that Obama has become “tone deaf”. McCain was clever in using this. This,I think, is slash and burn warfare. McCain will eat up valuable time on c*rp because Obama keeps leaving openings. Obama is in complete disarray.

I see that the Chronicle decided to enter the time-consuming “vacuous debate,” but maybe they consider themselves eminently qualified.

And Obama’s new ad about McCain and the Internet?
No personal attacks there...move along please...

McCain should come back with:
“I live in the real world, not the Blogisphere. While I have staff members who help me touch base with what's happening on the Internet, I think it would be dangerous to have a President who camps out there.”

Swiftboating = Exposing a liberal politician as the liar he is.

Exactly!!!

I wish someone in the MSM would ask Hussein for his definition of 'swiftboating'?

Since no one in the MSM will do that, I'd like to see Hannity publicly ask Hussine "ONE QUESTION PER DAY"! Of course, Hussein won't ask them, but at least it will give some outside the MSM the chance to discuss Hussein's evasion or lies.

“Swiftboating = Exposing a liberal politician as the liar he is.”

Also the BASE is in a “phony” outrage.

And we are also going to Swift Base him.

Get everything, just the facts, just the facts....get it off to everyone, friends, media, newspapers.

From a typical white grandmother.
