Palin: I'm ready to be president
Herald Sun ^ | 12 September 2008

REPUBLICAN vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has insisted in her first major television interview she is ready to step in as US president if necessary.

John McCain's running mate also said in the interview with ABC News that she did not "blink" when Senator McCain made the shock offer for her to be on the Republican White House ticket and staked out a hard line against Russia.

The Alaska Governor was asked whether she though she was ready to step in as president should something befall Senator McCain, if the 72-year-old is elected president on November 4.

"I do ... if we are so privileged to be elected to serve this country, (I) will be ready. I'm ready."

Ms Palin said she did not "blink" when Senator McCain asked her to be his running mate two weeks ago.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink, you have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, that mission that we're on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can't blink.

Gibson was smarmy, smug, disrespectful, impatient.

Also mischaracterized Sarah’s words.

What’s the difference between a Sarah Palin using a Vacuum Cleaner and Charlie Gibson riding a motorcycle?

The Vacuum cleaner has the dirt bag on the inside.

I love to hear a canidate give the Office of the President of the United States talk about how they feel honored or the office as a privilage. Obama is so egotistical he would say I”m the one the office is waiting for. The Office is an Honor, Privilage, and responibility to the Country itself and the people you seek to govern. I can’t recall saying OBAMA saying anything as Humble or well spoken and respectfull. The way Obama speaks I hear no reverence or respect for the Office he seeks. Why he would be privilaged to be elected to the office. It seems he’s expecting an Imperial March to be crowned for the Coronation.

Love that picture!

Gov. Palin’s high heels remind me of Dorothy’s ruby red slippers in “The Wizard of Oz!”

I guess that makes Hillary “The Wicked Witch of The West.”

Palin did fantastic. WOW.

She is so quick on her feet. Gives clear and specific answers. Will not be bullied or back down. When Gibson was wrong on one of her supposed quotes, she called him on it.

I can’t wait to watch the rest of her interviews.

Folks you are witnessing history being made here the last 2 weeks. Palin will dominate world politics for the next 2 decades.

Great pick McCain. You did good !

After viewing the clip, I see now what Freepers were saying about the unflattering camera shot used.

Don’t we get to see her face when she’s talking? What is ABC afraid of?

“I believe that there is great hope and great potential for every country to be able to live and be protected with inalienable rights that I believe are God-given ... and I believe that those are the rights to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

She said that???

(raises eyebrow)

There is really only one answer to the question of Palin's readiness to be Commander in Chief. And that is whether Obama is better at foreign policy than she is. And even that isn't nearly as important as whether Obama is better at foreign policy than John McCain. Any comparison between Palin and Biden is strictly a second order issue - germane only if you assume that whoever is elected POTUS, he will die in office.

Gov Palin should look Charlie in the eye at the start tomorrow, and say- “Charlie, just a warning. You sandbag my words to the American People today, like you did with the quote from Lincoln, and you can leave my house, and my State. And if ABC has presented this as their standard of conduct, a repeat performance on your part today, and until you no longer work at ABC & I and the American People receive an apology from ABC News CEO, ABC will not recieve any consideration from me. Now what don’t you understand? You want a few minutes to revise your issues & questions today?”

What a pathetic DBM/gotcha interview, she should never have agreed to it but she certainly stood up to pathetic ol’ (Charlie, I’ll get that religious conservative) Gibson who was definitely out to get her at any cost.
