Palin Doesn't Matter, Numbers Do
By Bob Beckel
The Sarah Palin boom that has so traumatized Democrats and intimidated the press will have little if any impact on the presidential election. People dont vote for vice presidents, they vote for presidents. This race is about John McCain and Barack Obama not Annie Oakley from Wasilla, Alaska. It is also about turnout numbers and the electoral demographics in 2008 which overwhelm any impact Sarah Palin might have on the election outcome.
First the Palin boom. It is the product of surprise (a short lived but powerful force in politics), an emotional outlet for the GOP Right, and post convention polls. In the intense coverage of politics by the ever expanding number of outlets for political information, what is new and surprising quickly becomes over exposed resulting in a short shelf life. The freshness goes away quickly. So it will be shortly for Ms. Palin. She has had the best week in this campaign she will have and the only direction now is down.

Bob loves repeating Democratic talking points, doesn't he?

Bob Beckel is hallucinating as usual. Walter Mondale is his gift to America. I don't think he understands Sarah Palin is a force of nature, not just a political phenomenon. She's the real deal!

But Obama was put on the shelf earlier than she was, and is less interesting. No matter what, Pain will still be fresher in November than Obama.

Don't know if you've noticed this or not, but lately, Barack has that "not-so-fresh" feeling.
You want to 'splain how Obama's going to get back to Messiah status when he and his allies have spent two solid weeks trashing almost every demographic group outside of Ivy League Elitists?

So we're getting a lecture about the idiocy of running a woman as Veep from a guy whose claim to fame is that he once ran a woman as Veep?
Yeah, THAT'll bring the women stampeding back to Obama.

And if demographics all favor the Democrats, how does dear old Bob explain the 20 point shift among white women to McCain-Palin? That's more than would be attributable to a mere bounce. Young people typically do not turn out to vote in the numbers liberals fantasize they do and even if the black turnout is maxed out, that's not enough to carry any state! His analysis of American politics is superficial, shallow and unimpressive. It predicts nothing about what will happen in November.

Oh, let Beckel rant all he wants. The more ridiculous he argues, the more it shows his fear that the Republicans outsmarted his boy Obama, and they have nothing to show for it except souvenirs from Obama’s last sermon in Berlin.

“Palin Doesn’t Matter...”, which is why I’m saying that, “Palin Doesn’t Matter...”, because, and let me make myself clear, “Palin Doesn’t Matter...” Oh, and did I tell you that, “Palin Doesn’t Matter...?” Well, “Palin Doesn’t Matter...”
Yea, Bob...we know she doesn’t matter, which is why you took the time to write about the fact that, “Palin Doesn’t Matter...”
Bob, what’s the matter?

As I recall, Geraldine Ferraro never moved the numbers for Mondale. The ticket got buried in the greatest landslide ever seen in American history.

Obama needs to take a new direction with his campaign policies.

And Obama's crude and rude comment of " Stinky Fish " ... women took it as a direct offensive remark as that " Not-So-Fresh " feeling..... women KNEW exactly what he was referring to..... yeah Obama , what a way to win over women voters with that crude remark.

This is pretty much par for the course for Bob Beckel. He hasn’t had a clue in 16 years. He’s not going to come up with one now.
The Democrats are swamped in the wake of Palin’s cruiser, and they still think nothing is wrong. Well, that’s not exactly true. If Bob didn’t think there was a huge problem with Palin’s popularity, he wouldn’t be addressing what impact she is going to have over all.
Beckel is scared to death. The Democrats are running scared.

Beckel calls Governor Palin “Annie Oakley’?
First of all, Annie Oakley was a fiercely independent woman.
Secondly, when I look at Governor Palin, I think she is Reaganesque. She is the man Obama wishes he could be.
Last, but not least, Beckel is a putz.
To: Publius804
He’s right about one thing, Palin will not effect the outcome of the election. McCain was already going to win, now he’ll win by a larger margin.
Beckel places his confidence in the young/new voter and black votes that his messiah will command. Good luck with that strategy, Bob, relying on a demographic that doesn’t vote and another one that can’t be any more in the leftist pocket than it’s been for the last 30 years. Real winner you are.

From news repeorts and pictures from the McCain/Palin campaign... it seems the crowds that come to the rallies are getting bigger and better... that flys in the face of his argument that Palin's " freshness " will wear off.
Obama ? women are turned off by your sexist remarks, and your crude " stinky fishes " = women need to refresh themselves remark, and Obama ? your freshness has worn off a long time ago.
