WASHINGTON Tom Brokaw today asked of Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden a question that two weeks ago turned much of the Roman Catholic establishment against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "When does life begin?"
Biden, who plans to attend Mass tomorrow for the installation ceremony of his new bishop, Fran Malooly, said, "Look, I know when it begins for me."
The exchange on "Meet the Press" is sure to set off a controversy equal to the one that ensued for Pelosi, whose answer to Brokaw was denounced by more than two dozen Roman Catholic bishops.
In the exchange, Brokaw seemed to be aware of the potential for fireworks for Biden, the Democratic senator from Delaware and running mate of Barack Obama.

Why is it that Tom Brokaw, like Oprah refuses to invite Sarah on his show?

Grilled Biden à la Pelosi. Looks great on a menu, but who’d eat it?

There is a debate in our church, as Cardinal Egan would acknowledge, that's existed.Biden is not just stupid; he's unteachable. What a great ticket the dems have: Dumb and Dumber unleashed on the American people!

There they go out to lose the fence-sitting Catholic vote.
Barack and Joe have been having a great couple of weeks here, haven't they? Home run after home run.

I bet the NOW people are thinking: “so much for the abortion debate vs Palin.”

Wow... I can’t believe he would even come CLOSE to suggesting there was a debate in the church after the Pelosi debacle. They really can’t help themselves, can they?
I guess that’s what happens when you try to play both sides of an issue. It would seem that you start believing your own delusions and excuses.
I wonder if the Bishop will summon Biden, as they did Pelosi... (Does anyone know what came of that meeting with Pelosi, or has it happened yet? I didn’t see an article after the announcement that she had been “summoned” to a meeting...)

I figured it out at about age 8 when I was first told about the sperm and the egg, never accompanied by any talk about when life began, just the straightforward biology geared to a child of that age. That is when my life began for me, not age 8 but at conception although I wasn't told that word.
It came about by asking the question about how babies got in their mother's tummy. Then I asked how and was told in as simple terms as possible. My reaction was ick lol.

Browkaw is completely disingenuous. The question was
“when do civil rights begin?”
Not when does life begin?
The second is easy to weasel out of, the first much more difficult.

I voted against telling everyone else in the country that they have to accept my religiously based view that it's a moment of conception. But he and his group will vote in favor of forcing everything else on us. like: environment, global warming, 'human rights,' animal rights, childrearing/education, (give us a few more, guys)

eccentric,
He believes that by calling his observations “religiously based”, he can DODGE ACCOUNTABILITY.
I wish I were able to link the dodge to the larger argument.
Oh Yeah, SARAH PAHLIN!
Thanks for saying that which I was thinking.
