Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Joe Biden, Barack Obama's pro-abortion running mate, is coming under fire for comments he made today attacking vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin. After attacking her on abortion, Biden then slammed Palin on the birth of her son, who has Down syndrome.
During her acceptance speech last week, Palin promised the parents of disabled children that she would be their advocate in the White House.
Biden questioned that commitment by attacking Palin's stance on the issue of embryonic stem cell research, which has never helped a single patient.
"I hear all this talk about how the Republicans are going to work in dealing with parents who have both the joy, because there's joy to it as well, the joy and the difficulty of raising a child who has a developmental disability, who were born with a birth defect,' Biden said.
"Well guess what folks? If you care about it, why don't you support stem cell research?" Biden asked, questioning Palin's commitment.
The McCain campaign released a statement to LifeNews.com on Tuesday responding to Biden's accusation and saying Biden's comments on stem cell research were "offensive."
"Barack Obama's running mate sunk to a new low today launching an offensive debate over who cares more about special needs children," McCain spokesman Ben Porritt said. "Playing politics with this issue is disturbing and indicative of a desperate campaign."
Marjorie Dannenfelser, the head of the Susan B. Anthony List, a pro-life women's group, also took strong exception to Biden's "caustic" comments.
"Biden outrageously implied that Americans who refuse to sacrifice innocent human life in the name of unproven, desperate attempts to cure our nation’s ills through embryo-destructive research somehow don't really care about children," she told LifeNews.com.
"I am a mother of five children, one with a mental disability. The fact that Joe Biden questioned the compassion of parents like me – Governor Sarah Palin, among them – makes me sputter in disbelief," she added.
During her speech, Palin told the more than 37 million Americans watching: To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.
She continued, "I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House."

Scientists have been give access to hundreds of lines of frozen embryo’s to experiment with in hopes of finding cures. George W. Bush signed that law. So this point is moot. The embryonic lines have not shown any promise to cure anything so Joe Biden is a windbag and his snide remark was a personal attack on Sarah Palin’s Child. This is the Change that Obama was talking about and it should disgust us all.

Sen. Joseph Biden - Bearing false witness...
In 1972 Sen. Joseph Biden, the Democrat nominee for vice President, lost his wife and young daughter in a car accident. Losing your family in a auto accident is a gut wrenching tragedy, to be sure. No one underestimates that and no ever blamed Mrs. Biden for the accident.
Right up there with despicable things one human can do to another, is falsely accusing the innocent of a crime. “Bearing false witness” is even in the 10 commandments, but Mr. Biden’s feigned Catholicism doesn’t let that stop him.
Last night CBS Inside Addition reports, “In a striking moment in December 2007, he opened his heart to University of Iowa students. “Let me tell you a little story. My wife and three kids were Christmas shopping for a Christmas tree, a tractor trailer, a guy who allegedly, and I never pursued it, drank his lunch instead of eating his lunch, broadsided my family, killed my wife instantly, killed my daughter instantly, and hospitalized my two sons.”
Out on the stump recently and for years, Biden has repeated this charge. Lately, he has tried to soften it with the thought that he doesn’t know if the semi truck driver was drunk...., “ I never pursued it”. He didn’t follow the case about the death of his wife and child? Give me a break.
The court certainly did. The driver was never charged and was cleared of any wrong doing. Mrs. Biden, driving a station wagon full of kids and a Christmas tree pulled into the truck’s path. The driver, also a victim, had not been drinking and for the years before his death his reputation suffered with the false charge that Biden put out in the public for sympathy and political gain.
He will use his dead family and an innocent fellow American for his own personal profit. Don’t be surprised when he uses the rest of us.
Pray for Biden, pray that an angry God doesn’t punish him for his thoughtless and hurtful words. Forgive him for his ambition and false beliefs have narrowed his heart. He knows not what he does.
The only "cure" the left offers Downs Syndrome children is prenatal death. Or relatively quick post natal death if they survive the abortion.

Excuse me, Tom, but if my memory is correct, and I think it is, Pres. Bush signed the bill for the nine lines of EXISTING embryo stem cells, but he REFUSED to sign a bill which would give tax payer support to killing any more emryos for research.
Obama-bin-Biden are running against Motherhood, Apple Pie, love for special needs children, everything AMERICAN.
They are in full-bore self-destruct mode.
It’s a glory to watch!
They can’t say ANYTHING against Palin that won’t be construed as an attack on her Motherhood, her femininity, her beauty, her children, her husband, her family, her faith.
And still they continue to attack her rather than McCain or McCain’s record.
It’s as if they can’t help themselves, as if they’re doing it in spite of their better judgement, in spite of the counsel of their advisers.
More and more, I’m suspecting that it’s the hand of the Lord.

I’m sick of cynical liars like Biden appropriating the term “stem cell research” when what they mean is “embryo-destroying stem cell research” and ONLY that. The only thing produced so far by destroying embryos in this way is cancerous tumors. ADULT stem cell research, not involving the destruction of embryos, is supported by pro-lifers.
Biden and his ilk are beneath contempt. And if he’s a Catholic I’m the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.
Pure demagoguery, since the embryonic cells are neither necessary nor ideal for stem cell research. Placental and umbilical have better records. The Dems are relying on the voting population’s ignorance, so they keep them in the dark. And embryonic research is not the only area they do this in.
I was under the impression that federal funding was the issue, not the research itself.
