Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:
Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."
If the situation was reversed there would be an absolute s#!tstorm of criticism from the MSM.
yes, very interesting indeed.......
I agree with that...and I trully thank you for your thoughtful explanation...BUT...do you (or anybody else here) really think that the average Obamite in that crowd that whooped it up after the 'pig' comment took it in context? No...probably thought, 'Palin is a pig.' And I don't want to go to the smelly fish reference...there are alot of other ageist comments that could have been made to reference McCain advanced years. The fish one could be taken in an extremely negative form when aimed at a woman.
The thing about Palin's original comment...she compared herself, a hockey mom, to a pitbull. Its one thing to make fun of yourself...its another issue to lob the barnyard animal reference at another.

So is what the Huckster said "irrelevant"?
sw
I would love to see Obama say this to her husband
o please let it be
BANG obama goes down and doesn’t come back up,
of course Obama being the wimp would sue instead
I think here is the smoking gun.
“Democratic Congressman Russ Carnahan on Tuesday introducing Joe Biden at a campaign event ripped into Palins record and punctuated it with this snarky jab. Theres no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick, he said.” This precedes Obama’s lipstick/pig comment.
Screw that...let’s send some rotten fish!
This isn’t a gender thing — it’s a ‘rabid left’ thing. Don’t forget that the crowd cheered BO. His followers [including the BO Media] will back him. Mark Levin caught it and spent a lot of time on it. The only surprise [to me] was the Huckster.
agreed
No, I am in the bitter, gun and religion clinging 'old' part of the state. (Actually, near Pittsburgh).
Obama is proving what a useless empty suit he is. Nothing but a skinny kid with a mouth kids beat up in school.
It just hit me ... why isn’t his motto “Change We Can Appease In?”
It is an old saying. And nothing would be thought of it, had Gov. Palin not already owned the pit bull/lipstick joke. It was clearly a reference to her alone, and if you watch the video , the audience got it right away.

Exactly.
Everybody gets it he made a personal attack on Palin at the lowest level. With the 2 comments together that cannot be escaped, and he has been running his campaign against Palin not McCain.
For a man to display such little presence of mind on the public stage shows clearly he is not fit for the POTUS.
I say the McCain plan re: managing Palin.s exposure to the media for the time being is really working because we see these scuzzy attacks on Palin bounce back in their faces.
The more Obama talks the better it is for US.
SO MUCH NUANCE!!!!
give me the link I’ll do it
Spokane, I have to completely agree with Mamzelle. The McCain camp has already been reported as "angry". That isn't helpful.
Remember: "Never get in an arguement with a fool. He'll bring you down to his level and beat your ass with experience."
The McCain/Palin camp needs to continue to show that they are the adults and need to be in charge.
It is our job to make the fuss and show the world what childish folks the Obamamaniacs are. (That includes Hussein himself)
I hope he keeps it up because, seriously, if you know the sort of woman who might vote in this election, they won’t see this language as “innocent” but rather as typical misogynistic, old-boy, glass-ceiling and part-and-parcel of his dissing Hillary by not even vetting her for running mate and picking the ultimate good-ol’ boy.
