Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:
Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."

i don’t want him to apologize. I don’t want him to wake up and discover the error of his ways. I want him tripping, stumbling, and falling on his own sword all the way to November.
McCain/Pailin asked for an apology for the insult. Obama says, “What insult?”
We need to have some fun with this. We can handle the verbal jabs, even the appalling insults. Pailin is a stealthy Alaskan Assassin. She’ll take care of this in her own way.

Perhaps it's time to donate a slice of bacon to the Obambi campaign. Imagine a pile of envelops, each with a thin slice of bacon inside. Hate to waste good bacon, though. This is a 30-second ad - signed, sealed, delivered. No voiceover just 25 seconds covering the main comments (pig, fish, laughter) and then fade in "Change we can believe in?" Done.

Isn't the saying you can put a bow on a pig but it's still pig? The lipstick was referring to Palin. He's calling her a pig.
To: Mamzelle
It’s worse. that’s why everyone is shying away from it. They are afraid, and rightly should be.

May I be the first to suggest that the best way to confront this issue is that EVERYONE SEND LIPSTICK TO THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN?

This statement just bothers me on so many levels. It is so insulting...and as a woman (with five kids of my own) I am getting really fed up with the insults, condesension, misogyny aimed at Gov. Palin.
Stinky fish? Lipstick on a pig? Are these people that stupid or that misogynist! If a Republican, at any level had said this he would be forced to resign. Is that where they are headed? They want to force Obama out? WHY SAY SOMETHING THAT INSULTINGLY STUPID!?!?!?!?

Not if they just make a 30 second commercial.
Show Palin delivering her lipstick comment during the convention, followed immediately by the pig comment from today.
People will be able to put it together.

This is a big thread, so I'm not sure if I missed this. But to me:
Democratic Congressman Russ Carnahan on Tuesday introducing Joe Biden at a campaign event ripped into Palins record and punctuated it with this snarky jab. Theres no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick, he said. Later in the day, Obama used a variation of the lipstick line, though he was clearly talking about the McCain-Palin reform rhetoric. "You can put lipstick on a pig," he said. "It's still a pig."
puts the entire thing in context. Lipstick is their theme for attacking Governor Palin.
To: Rutles4Ever
I don’t want him to apologize, either. I want him to lose.

If a Republican, at any level had said this he would be forced to resign.Exactly!! If it wasn't for 'double standards'--democrats would have NONE.

PRACTICING THE UGLY POLITICS OF PERSONAL DESTRUCTION!!
This is GUTTER POLITICS at it LOWEST level. Sickening.

Yes!
This was one of Mark Levin’s major concerns. He wanted to be sure that Sarah Palin have strong conservatives around her.
Bolton is just the kind of man Sarah Palin needs to advise her about foreign affairs. Excellent sign.
For thouse who don’t know, President Bush had to recess appoint him. Here’s a Wash/Post quote to show what Reid thought of him:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/01/AR2005080100436.html
Senate Minority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.), echoing the concerns of fellow Democrats, said Bush abused a presidential power intended for narrow circumstances in order to dispatch “a seriously flawed and weakened candidate” to the United Nations.

Mike Suckabee is on Hannity & Colmes right now saying we should cut Obama some slack, that it wasn’t a reference to Palin.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
