Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:
Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."
Lets see add that to the sweetie comment and the time he was flipping-off Hillary in a speech. He’s really something not special.
“But the lipstick on a pig thing seems so deliberate”
He paused to let it sink in.
“You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said as the crowd cheered. “It’s still a pig.”
“You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It’s still gonna stink.”
And you can day your a Christian when your really trying to say muslim.
He even fumbled at the beginning of his own "joke." You can't... uh, you can't, uh, YOU CAN...
He’s little more than a bad stand-up comic playing to the room.
"I think a whole lot of white women are going to take that one personally."
“Lipstick On A Pig” Update [Byron York]
The McCain campaign is holding a conference call with former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift, who is calling on Barack Obama to apologize to Sarah Palin for his “lipstick on a pig” comment. “We need to continually combat this stream of insults,” Swift said, referring specifically to “what I can only deem to be disgraceful comments comparing our vice presidential nominee, Gov. Palin, to a pig.”
Reporters were a bit skeptical that Obama intended to do that; from the sketchy reports we have, he seemed to be talking about how John McCain can claim to represent change but isn’t really an agent of change. But Swift said, “it’s pretty clear the crowd thought that that was the insult he was leveling.” And Swift made the (hopefully) undeniable observation that Palin is the only one of the four national candidates who wears lipstick.
So now a major party has reduced itself to calling its opponents animals - specifically a pig. Coming from a former muslim that is truly bizarre. Our side simply states the other side has jumped the shark by resorting to childish name calling and then says is this what America wants as a President?
The most effective weapon for McCain against this empty suit IMO is ridicule and staying above the fray. Allow conservatives surrogates to do the dirty work. McCain / Pailin needs to stay focused on the ball - Ohio, Florida, etc
Just words, just speeches.....
Thanks, saved to my hard drive in case Youtube pulls it.
Perfect....even if he didn’t mean it...the campaign is doing the right thing. Remember when LOTT made comments that the media mistook???
Why is everyone getting so upset? Obamalamadingdong makes a comment about his sex life and everybody ....
check YouTube for “obama lipstick”
I found it on my iPhone
Shucks, I thought Davey here was in charge. It's all part of the plan...
The reaction of the crowd is what’s really going to make this tough for the Obama camp to try and dismiss this thing.
To quote Denzel Washington, “This ain’t checkers, it’s chess.”
Up to now in his political career, Obama has been playing checkers.
O is falling apart & losing control.
I'm just waiting for the media to turn on O. It could happen.
