Is Sarah Palin's executive experience sinking Obama's chances?

No story in my lifetime has shown more bias, hypocrisy and incompetence than the political left-wing media's reporting of and reaction to John McCain's choice of Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice-president. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D_NY) greeted McCain's v-p choice with a statement that it would "put to rest any argument about inexperience on the Democratic team."

Based on today's polls, it would appear that Sen. Schumer may right. Only, it appears that it is the inexperience of Obama that has been put to rest. Obama's "experience" as a community organizer who failed to actually succeed in getting asbestos removed from public housing in a Chicago neighborhood looks really pitiful when compared with Sarah Palin's experience as a mayor, as a governor and commander-in-chief of the Alaska National guard. Of course, Obama is not running against Sarah Palin. He's running against John McCain's many years as an army officer and senator. Obama's "experience" compared to McCain's is literally non-existing.

Today the Gallup poll shows the McCain-Palin ticket with a five point lead over Obama-Biden and the Zogby poll shows the McCain-Palin ticket with a 49.7 percent lead over Obama-Biden with 45.9 percent.

This appears to have outraged liberals or "progressives." How DARE the public choose Sarah Palin as Vice-President? She can't be a proper women's rights or middle class leader, much less a vice-president. After all, she has five children, one that is handicapped that "progressives" think she should have aborted, she wants to drill in ANWAR to create jobs in Alaska and furnish oil to fellow Americans and she doesn't believe humans are causing global warming.

While this does not surprise me, it does amuse me that they don't seem to realize how much they are revealing to the general public about their real agenda — which appears to be covering up Barack Obama's personal life and lack of experience while trying to portray Sarah Palin as the ultimate enemy of women's rights and on-hands experience.

Sarah Palin chose to give birth to her youngest child, Trig, who has Down's Syndrome. She chose to support her 17 year old daughter, Bristol, who, like Barack Obama's mother, Ann, became pregnant prior to marriage. There is, of course, a difference in Bristol and Ann's situation. Ann entered a bigamous relationship as the second wife of Barack Obama, Sr., who, at the time, had a wife and two children in Kenya. Young Levi Johnston is single.

There are many comments about Sarah Palin being "no Hillary Clinton." That is true. Sarah Palin did not ride her husband's coattail to political power. Her success in politics has been due to her own efforts. That seems to really upset people like Arianna Huffington, editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post, who failed in her own efforts to ride her husband's coattails to the governorship of California. How can Palin, the pro-life, mother of five, who has actually MADE pro-life, difficult personal decisions about abortion possibly now be a candidate for Vice-President? "Choice" for people like Arianna Huffington is only admirable when the choice is to destroy, not to preserve, the life of an unborn child.

On other major issues of the 2008 campaign, energy, the war on terror, foreign policy, the economy and global warming, Sarah Palin also has demonstrated knowledge, courage and decision making ability. She recently signed a bill that allows a Canadian group to construct a new 1700 mile natural gas line from Alaska to the lower states. Her son, Track, will be in Iraq shortly with his Infantry Brigade. She has a very personal stake in national security, and winning the war against terrorists.

Robert Dreyfuss, a contributor to "The Nation" magazine, wrote that "because her state is up there someplace near Russia" that some GOP pundits and strategists "have suggested she has a good grasp of foreign policy."

Someplace near Russia? Alaska is 64 miles from Russia and borders Canada. Both, by definition are "foreign" countries. Alaska sits right in the path of Russia's efforts to gain control of more arctic oil reserves and is the destination of Russian efforts to construct a tunnel from Russia to Alaska that would be the "world's longest tunnel, a transport and pipeline link under the Bering Strait to Alaska, as part of a $65 billion project to supply the U.S. with oil, natural gas and electricity from Siberia."

A major part of our Missile Defense Systems is at Fort Greely, Alaska and is manned in large part by the Alaska National Guard, (http://www.defenselink.mil/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=47177) headed by Governor Sarah Palin. It was a handful of Alaska Army National Guardsmen who were standing ready on July 4, 2006 prepared to smash the North Korean missile that was shot over Japan that day.

The Senate does not create foreign policy, negotiate with foreign leaders or write the treaties. It also cannot direct he commander in chief where to send the troops, once they have been called up. I would think that by now Obama and Biden would know that by now. After all, President Bush vetoed three bills they voted for that ordered him to give up and bring the troops home from Iraq.

Their unconstitutional attempts to give orders to the commander in chief seem to indicate that neither of them even understand the difference between executive and legislative responsibilities under the U.S. Constitution. Perhaps they could use a little time as a mayor, CEO or governor to learn what executives actually DO.

I would have to say EVERYTHING about Sarah Palin is sinking Obama’s chances. She is everything that America is and represents, and Obama is most certainly NOT.

Thanks for posting! This is one of the best written articles I have read about Governor Palin summing up her experience, Obama’s lack of experience and attacks coming from the Obama side.

My heart breaks every time I think about 90% of blacks voting for Obama. Let me be clear. It is because of his race. Period.

My heart breaks when I hear the passion and excitement of Black American’s finally feeling like they will be represented in the highest office in the land.

My heart breaks to know that so many Black American’s for so many years have been used as a voting block and that’s all.

On November 4 the overwhelming Black vote will go to Barack Obama. If he looses my heart will break.

My heart will break for those millions of American’s who happen to be black that were told they aren’t fully an equal citizen until a black man is elected to the White House.

When the tally is taken and if Obama comes up short my fellow Black American’s are not the loser’s. They are the winners.

P.S. I’m a McCain/Palin supporter.

Obama is seen as a LIGHTWEIGHT with no experience, he lost this race himself.

His campaign is making matters worse, by attacking Palin it makes Obama look even lighter.

It’s not her “executive experience”, either, that’s doing it.

It’s her obvious CHARACTER.

I just had my thoughts clarified by a liberal poster on another site. There’s a definite wuss factor associated with Obama. Both Kerry and Gore tried to surmount that with the failed hunting photo ops. Same with the Dukakis tank pop-up.

Palin has magnified that factor. There’s no girly-man that can beat McCain-Palin. I don’t care how much they pander. You still want the big guy on your side at recess.

It’s not about the tremendous difference in execuative experience between 0be and Sarah, it’s about the tremendous difference in actual useful change effected. (0be is still zero or negative in this category.)

Yep! She's run a business, a city and a state. All Obama has run is his mouth. There's no contest!

If the author demonstrates that she is so uninformed about McCain whose bio and resume was the centerpiece of the Rep convention, then her credibility is undermined. I am a big fan of Palin and probably know more about her than the author.
