Obama to Palin: 'Don't Mock the Constitution'
By Peter Slevin
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Sen. Barack Obama delivered an impassioned defense of the Constitution and the rights of terrorism suspects tonight, striking back at one of the biggest applause lines in Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's speech to the GOP convention.
It was in St. Paul last week that Palin drew raucous cheers when she delivered this put-down of Obama: "Al-Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America and he's worried that someone won't read them their rights."
Obama had a few problems with that.

Well he went to law school, but he’s never actually had a real job AFAIK.
Miranda rights are nowhere in the Constitution.
Funny that Obama doesn’t know this, apparently.
Obama has been sounding kinda angry lately, ehh? perhaps that light coming down from the heavens telling people they must vote for Obama burned out...
Palin is right. SCOTUS and 0 are wrong.
Sucks to be 0.
Obama doesn’t care about the constitution, he cares about “empathy”. The kind of empathy that finds infanticide in the constitution...
"First of all, you don't even get to read them their rights until you catch 'em," Obama said here, drawing laughs from 1,500 supporters in a high school gymnasium. "They should spend more time trying to catch Osama bin Laden and we can worry about the next steps later."
Read them their rights when you catch them in Afganistan, Pakistan, or Iraq? LoL!
Obama forgets that the Constitution is for the people of the United States. Sounds to me that a lot of people forget that these days.
Instead of where’s Waldo, we should ask, Where’s Plugs???
Obama forgets that the Constitution is for the people of the United States. Sounds to me that a lot of people forget that these days.
Not only that, but look at what BO would do to the Consitution:
Screw the 2nd Amendment.
Where des the constitution say that the government shall furnish medical care.
On and on and on.
Who is accusing whom of mocking what? I could make a remark about pots and kettles, but I might be accused of racism.
Or may be he's both, so what you're saying Barack is that you would kill the terrorists; take them out, burn them, ect. BUT first would ask them for ID and read them their rights? This guy is losing it.
Also Barack, what do you MEAN by, “These people?”
Terrorists are people too, and their rights must be given priority over the “bitter” people.
I estimate the O’s IQ at about 90-100. He’s quite ignorant and not far from being stupid. He didn’t “get it” that Sarah was making a jab at the doofi (is that a word? it is now!) who think terrorists should get Constitutional protection of their rights!
Palin’s response should be: “Senator Obama says that the question of whether unborn American babies have rights is too complicated, that the question is so difficult it is ‘above his pay grade.’ But not the rights of foreign terrorists trying to murder Americans. Senator Obama is absolutely certain that they are entitled to every consideration that law-abiding Americans are.”
PLUGS ain’t no fool! He is in a sinking ship and he’s swimming as fast and as far as he can. He’s not about to risk his comfy job or his reputation...LOL for a black dude!!
“We don’t always catch the right person,” he said. “We may think it’s Mohammed the terrorist, but it might be Mohammed the cab driver. You might think it’s Barack the bomb-thrower, but it might be Barack the guy running for president.”
So if we catch a guy on a battlefield, we’ve got to give him a right to file a writ of habeus corpus in order to assure that we are not arresting a mere cab driver, or a Democrat running for President?
“You might think it’s Barack the bomb-thrower, but it might be Barack the guy running for president.”
A lot of us might very well make that mistake.
Military combatants not in a recognized military uniform should not granted the rights of the US Constitution or the Geneva convention. In all wars involving the US, until the current conflict, these folks would be shot as spies. ;-(
