Has any one else noticed the responses this morning from across the pond?
Wow, she has really struck a chord.
Brits like sarcastic, dry humor. Palin gave plenty of that (in the appropriate measure).
I think we particularly liked the Styrofoam columns remark :0)
The Brits have experience with a strong woman as a leader. I don’t think I need to mention her name.
I’ve been saying all week the British press has been very positive on Sarah. Today they’ve gone to a full blown love fest over her. I’d like to know what the rest of the world thinks of her.
Brits like aggressive politicians...
Yes, they seem very impressed with her.
THe Margaret Thatcher comaparison is obvious. Those qualities are not lost on the Brits.
Here in New Zealand the convention was on delayed coverage. They chopped it off halfway thru Palin’s speech!
I was stunned. But not surprised: that was Aunty Helen’s way of showing her disapproval.
Palin is Helen Clark’s worst nitemare: Helen had already selected Obama to be your new President, and here comes Sarah — without Permission — and spoils Helen’s plans.
I believe that what we witnessed was America’s first female POTUS having her practise run.
“Full of self-assurance and aggression, she popped Barack’s balloon big-time.”
-loved that line in the article...lol
Bloody Mary?
Last night, after the Palin speech there were several comments made about 'Speech writers' and Palin's use of them for her speech. All politicians use speech writer's, so the comments, which seemed barbed when directed at Palin, were inappropriate. Brit was commenting on this when my TeeVo stopped. I was watching after the fact, so I did not get to hear his response.
Can anyone advise what it was that he said?
> Id like to know what the rest of the world thinks of her.
Brief survey:
Brazil: Paraná Online is very pro-Obama and is parroting the Donkey talking points and playing up the faux scandals.
Russia: St. Petersburg Times has NOTHING
Italy: Corriere della Sera repeated some of the Donkey talking points and mad a big deal about Sarah’s rumored (and debunked) extramarital affair and about Bristol’s unwed pregnancy. Overall, they seemed neutral, just repeating what they’ve gotten from the American “press”.
The Times, the Sun, the Daily Mail, and the Telegraph can be expected to be favorable. They are basically conservative or populist.
The Guardian and others are likely to hate her, we’ll see.
The BBC and other TV broadcasters are also likely to be hostile.
“Sarahs rumored (and debunked) extramarital affair and about Bristols unwed pregnancy”
Badge of honor among Italian politicians.
Brits love Palin.
Although it was mentioned that the BBC was at the Demo convnetion but entirely skipped the GOP.
News Flash for the Brits: You can’t have Sarah...she’s all ours!
I have a friend of many years who lives in the Midlands of Britain.
She emailed me that she stayed up very late and watched and loved Sarah and was amazed at the show of patriotism and appreciation for our military and said that Sarah expressed her values.....which values are long gone from beautiful England.....
First Mort (the male-chav-pig) made the comment after Sarah’s outstanding speech that she gave a brilliant speech; but that someone wrote it for her. THEN Sheena Easton said the same thing...that’s when Britt jumped in and said to Sheena “All politicians have their speeches written for them. Why are you singling out Sarah.” Sheena replied that Sarah would have to prove herself on the circuit talk shows...(IMHO, Sheena looked catty).
I heard a report, before the speech, that she had worked with the writer(s), who were impressed with the changes and additions which she made.
