Halfway through Sarah Palin's speech tonight at the RNC, people following the speech noticed she was deviating from the prepared text.
According to sources close to the McCain campaign, the teleprompter continued scrolling during applause breaks. As a result, half way through the speech, the speech had scrolled significantly from where Governor Palin was in the speech. The malfunction also occurred during Rudy Giuliani's speech, explaining his significant deviations from his speech.
Unfazed, Governor Palin continued, from memory, to deliver her speech without the teleprompter cued to the appropriate point in her speech.
Contrast this to Barack Obama who, when last his teleprompter malfunctioned, was left stuttering before a crowd unable to advance his speech until the problem was resolved.
Sarah Palin. Winner.

I knew that they supposedly sped up the teleprompter to try to get Giuliani finished. But this is amazing!

If Sarah was able to do that, then Joe Biden is in deep, DEEP trouble.

Did anyone see Piper when the daughters were being introduced? Piper put out her hands, palms up, and your could see her mouth the words “What do we do?” She wasn’t sure if she was supposed to stand or not. It was precious.

As the day has passed and I have considered the events...I am more and more convinced that this good woman has in fact been preserved there in Alaska...quietly (to the rest of us here in the lower 48, or as they say up there us here in the "outside") respondiong to the promptings of her own heart to get involved and accomplishing much in her own right as she was prepared to be there to come to America's aid when John McCain made this inspired call...and I believe McCain was inspired in this choice.
Amazing. Despite all the planning, the positioning, the buying of influence, the pedaling of influence, and the rock star blitz of the other side...we are seeing that, IMHO, the good Lord can prepare something off to the side that wholly undoes all of that wrangling.
That's what we are seeing here IMHO.

Yeah, well - somebody else wrote her speech, and besides that, she's a girl.

I heard that Wolf Blitzers first post speech comment was that she delivered a speech someone else wrote for her. This was also a constant theme among the commentators of Fox like Kondrake- It was great delivery buuuut someone else wrote the speech Yes - all those six-figure speechwriters that inhabit Washington are just there to deliver coffee and seltzer water to the candidates while they're laboring over their speeches.
These elite Beltway jag-offs must think people in fly-over country are bone stupid.
Most of us had speaking classes in high school (at least when I went) and know the fear of getting up in front of a group of people and "speechifying".

You know...sometimes you use what you have available to you at the time. I'm sitting here reading this and crying. The Palin Family is the greatest gift given to us by Senator McCain to his Country... Thank You.......

My first thoughts as well. This may have been sabotage.

Isn’t she a doll? That little boy is so very loved; it’s as clear as crystal.
People have such a hunger for genuineness and goodness that we have all been touched by this down-to-earth family. We had our innocence robbed from us seven years ago.
I would love to see Piper and Trig running through the White House. :)
To: BobL
The guy running the teleprompter almost certainly was a union guy that the Republicans had no control over. Yes, and the convention center probably has union work rules that forbid anyone else from touching the controls.
Another festering cesspool for the McCain/Palin administration to drain.
