Halfway through Sarah Palin's speech tonight at the RNC, people following the speech noticed she was deviating from the prepared text.
According to sources close to the McCain campaign, the teleprompter continued scrolling during applause breaks. As a result, half way through the speech, the speech had scrolled significantly from where Governor Palin was in the speech. The malfunction also occurred during Rudy Giuliani's speech, explaining his significant deviations from his speech.
Unfazed, Governor Palin continued, from memory, to deliver her speech without the teleprompter cued to the appropriate point in her speech.
Contrast this to Barack Obama who, when last his teleprompter malfunctioned, was left stuttering before a crowd unable to advance his speech until the problem was resolved.
Sarah Palin. Winner.

all the more impressive...any direct link other than Red State??
This reaffirms that she will kick Biden’s butt in a debate. Talk about grace under pressue!
I noticed Rudy’s speech kind of rambled in the middle. Sarah’s speech got stronger as she went.
Not yet.
i’m not disputing it did or didnt work , just then the couple i times i did see it it was where she was talking, dosent matter either way really, the speech was on a scale of 1-10 about oh 1000 or so... she destroyed Obama and the media without ever talking about her daughter... she showed smart intelligent thoughtfulness without ever being mean or petty... just an incredible night, everyone did well i thought from Steele on up...
I don't like McCain, but I will now have something to vote for. This woman should be president. It would not surprise me to see an electoral landslide in November.
The teleprompter was online, but at about the half-way point, it pulled ahead of her during moments of applause, and became useless to her. Several of us have detected the exact point in her speech when it happened.
the point is teleprompter.
Forget it.
Yeah. Forget it.
The ABC News feed of the shots behind Gov. Palin showed the teleprompter speaker right working properly. If it got off place because someone wasn’t paying attention I didn’t notice it. I did notice she got some applause she wasn’t expecting and had to wait for the crowd to quiet down before continuing.
I don’t know when teleprompters became common for these type of speeches but its not like they have been around forever. Just a guess but I think the Gettysburg address didn’t have one. :)
I am starting to hate this one....
“THE NOTION”..... All the rats and media butt hounds say it lately.....
I’m not sure about this. I watched her on a PBS channel, and there were several shots from behind that showed the telepromters with text. The text matched what she was saying.
Thanks Rush...
Background on the teleprompter crew, please!
.
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe I’ll play Heart’s ‘Barracuda’ all day today.
[As conniving as the Obama appearance on O’Reilly is tonight as it relates to timing. Bill O’Reilly can end the election tonight. If he asks some hard nosed questions, insists on getting a straight answer and Obama goes into the uhhh, well, “back when I was a Senator”, etc. it will be incredibly damaging to place that in contrast between Palin’s speech and John McCain’s speech.]
But BOR won’t. He’ll give a softball interview and let Obama lie and lie and lie. I will be surprised if he drills him on Wright, Ayers, Rezko, being against the surge after it worked, etc. BOR will let Barry skate.
I’ll be watching the RNC convention on C-SPAN.
BTTT
Will the media report this fact at all?
The CNN commentary team brought this up last night. Finally one of them mentioned that they hadn’t applied that standard to anyone else. I found it interesting that more than half of the CNN commentators seemed to be more taken by her than they wanted to be. The CNN women particularly saw what a remarkable woman she is. I loved it!
The closing lines in everyone's speech at the RNC has been "God bless America.
There were times during her speech when they had shots from behind where I could see the text that she was reading so it was working for quite a bit of the speech. But then there was a part or two where I caught sight of her glancing down at the podium. I imagine she had a card there with bullets on the major points to reminder her of the main topics so she could be sure to hit all of them in the proper order in case something went wrong with the teleprompter.

You’ll probably notice the point(s) where she starts going off the cuff.
