Dear Readers of the Sun:
This morning I write to you about the future of The New York Sun, which is in circumstances that may require us to cease publication at the end of September unless we succeed in our efforts to find additional financial backing. The managing editor, Ira Stoll, who is one of the founding partners in the paper, and I have shared this news with our colleagues, and we would like our readers as well to be aware of the situation.

Here’s an idea - embrace conservative principles. Write something worth reading - worth paying for!
Quick! Break out the old “Men on the moon” articles! This is how you got your start.;-D
The NY Sun is a generally conservative newspaper, which was founded as an alternative to the leftist drivel published by the NY Times.
No doubt they occasionally slip up, but on the whole it would be a great pity if they stopped publishing.
The Sun is an excellent paper and conservative to boot. It’s well written but poorly advertised. It’s also not available outside of Manhattan.
Sad-but predictable. A conservtive paaper in NYC during these times.
Here's what some leftist scum wrote about them...
Dissent Equals Treason:
The New York Sun lacks the courage of its fascist convictions.

On Feb. 6, the New York Sun published an editorial equating dissent with treason. The subject was an anti-war march planned in New York City on Feb. 15. Although the Sun grudgingly conceded that the protesters "probably do have a claim under the right to free speech," it went on to argue that anyone who marches against war with Iraq is providing "aid and comfort" to Saddam, and therefore committing treason as defined by Article III of the Constitution:
"There can be no question at this point that Saddam Hussein is an enemy of America. ... And there is no reason to doubt that the 'anti-war' protesterswe prefer to call them protesters against freeing Iraqare giving, at the very least, comfort to Saddam Hussein. ... The more successful the protesters are in making their case in New York, the less chance they'll have the precious constitutional freedom to protest here the next time around."

When I was living in NYC, that was exactly what the Sun was about. It became refuge for the Forward’s conservative editor after he was ousted by the publisher. It was more intelligently written and more informative than the Post, and its editorial page was a gold mine. It might have changed since 2004, when I relocated to Florida, but when I read it it was brilliant.
Too bad about the Sun. They have a great crossword puzzle.

For those that don’t know, The New York Sun IS along with Investors Business Daily, the MOST conservative papers in all of New York City.
NY Sun is a generally conservative and quality paper.
Their problem is pricing...you cannot charge $1 for a paper that is 10% of the volume of NY Times.

Three of you have had nice things to say about the Sun. I wouldn't think the smaller size would be a problem if it were perceived as the "important pieces." Perhaps it is the 'perfect storm' of:
