Geraldine Ferraro on ABC: 'We’ll Be Looking' to Monitor Sexist Palin Coverage
Newsbusters.org ^ | 9/3/08 | Tim Graham

ABC’s Good Morning America interviewed 1984 vice-presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro in the 7:30 half hour on Wednesday, asking her about how Palin will handle the pressure of her speech. Robin Roberts tried to get Ferraro, a Hillary supporter, to condemn a video of Palin in a Newsweek interview suggesting Hillary Clinton’s “perceived whining” is not a help to women candidates.

Ferraro did lament it briefly, but went on to warn the media: “A lot of those PUMA [Party Unity My A--] people and I will be watching very carefully to make sure that you treat her just like anybody else. Go to her, her qualifications, go to her experience. Go to whatever you want to. But make sure it's done on a basis where she's treated like a guy by the media. No sexism. Because we'll be looking.”

I don’t agree with Geraldine on much, but she seems to be a very decent like human being.

She may never admit it publically, but based on what she’s been saying lately, I bet Geraldine pulls the McCain-Palin lever on November 4.

Yes, good for Ferraro, but she should be condemning what has already happened. It’s pretty obvious to me that there is plenty for Ferraro to be talking about right now.

I've been watching Ferraro for quite a few months on Fox. She is easy and fun to listen to--seems to like herself and enjoys a debate but isn't so darned MEAN. I think she was very hurt to have the racist card played on her when she was just pointed out a fact--Obama has gotten a huge boost in the party just because he's black.

This may be one of the first Democrats I can honestly say I like.

Offhand, I’d say she doesn’t have to look too far.

Sad part is, in the early 1970s the left stole the Democratic Party and basically kicked out the populist, blue-collar oriented Democratic leaders. Now it’s happening again except the left of the 1970s was more like hippie leftists but with general American values. The new left that is trying to take control hates the Clintons, Ferraros and even the Harry Reids and (if elected) will “purify” the party in the image of Obama.

There wont be sexist coverage because Palin is pretty, young, dresses nice and doesn't cackle. Sexism in the media is when you mention those things about a woman.

For instance "Hillary Clinton is a loud mouthed ugly old bitch in a pant suit" is sexist. "McCain is a pale old a-hole with messed up teeth" is fair criticism.

I’ve gained a measure of respect for Ferraro over the course of the primary season. She strikes me as a bit of a scrapper.

Except for the small bit about each and every negative report has been sexist at it's root.

I saw one interview with Ferrarro where the “reporter” asked her who she was going to vote for. As a democrat, no one would have been surprised if she simply said “well, I’m a democrat, I’m voting for Obama.” But she didn’t. She said something like “well, I’m studying the two campaigns but I don’t think I should tell you who I’m voting for, that’s a private decision” or something like that. LOL!!

Who knows, maybe she'll be speaking at our next convention.

Oh heck yes. I definitely think she’ll be voting for McCain/Palin.
Didn’t she have to leave the Hillary campaign, because she was smeared as being a racist?
