Fox assured Obama of fair coverage

While in Minnesota to attend the Republican National Convention, Ailes told The Washington Post he, Murdoch and Obama, a U.S. senator from Illinois, had a productive discussion three months ago in New York. He said Obama had expressed concerns about Fox News Channel's portrayal of him and his wife Michelle.

The newspaper said Ailes told Obama that while his network wouldn't be "in the tank" for him, he assured the nominee he would be treated fairly. In return, Obama has agreed to appear on "The O'Reilly Factor" Thursday, hosted by conservative commentator Bill O'Reilly

Once you make promises of softball questions, your news is worthless.

Disappointed in Fix. And disappointed in O’Reilly.

Ailes told the Post that when Obama raised the question of fairness in the meeting, he responded by saying, "Senator, you're the one who boycotted us. We're not the ones who boycotted you. Nor did we retaliate for your boycott."

Boycott O'Reilly

He’ll probably find an excuse to cancel. McCain had a good excuse to cancel Larry King. obammy won’t need an excuse. Anything will do!

BO’s sucking up to Obama worked. BO is part of taking the spotlight away from McCain. No spin here.

On the contrary, Obama probably insisted on this very night and no other.

The lies this man has told and will tell cannot be counted and the only result one can ever depend upon is that he will maximize his own advantage and personal gain.

BOR has really made a mistake this time. \

I will check out the transcript later, but I will not pump Fox ratings for it. I will specifically turn to another channel or off at 8pm EST and back to Fox at 9pm.

What happened to Obama’s crying when he thought McCain was going to release the VP name on his big night? Now he goes on O’Reilly on Thursday night. Don’t watch O’Reilly, but we should start an organized boycott of his show. Right now Greta is the only one I would watch. Cannot believe I am saying that.

We need to get O’Reilly’s sponsors and start an email campaign for pulling this stunt.

Ailes can take it and shove it as his ‘people’ have been on the attack on McCain and especially Palin. It used to be Fox was the place for Conservatives to go but Ailes sold us out to Murdoch and the whiner Obama. He has all the other networks and now made an agreement for Fox News Channel.

I say boycott all but Greta on Fox News. We made them popular so let’s make them unpopular. I was one of many who kept going after our local cable affiliates to add Fox News Channel. What a mistake — should have known when Murdoch owned them.

I certainly hope that Fox is fair and objective when they interview Obama. If Fox needs any pointers in how to be fair and objective, I suggest they look at how CNN is covering Palin. I think Fox should closely adhere to that model during their interview with Obama.

Would he get all huffy? Would he walk out? My, that would be presidential.

I did also, and told him I will certainly make sure I am watching the convention on C-SPAN instead of FOX. Truth is I did last night also!:)

In any negotiation these days, the first person to use the word “fairness” wins.

I don’t think it’s that bad. It may get more people to watch convention, plus I think the more people see of Barack, the better for McCain. Of course some of that will depend on O’Reilly’s questions.

Re: It really sucks for O’Reilly to interview Obambi on Thursday..

How much do you want to bet that this was one of Obama’s preconditions for an interview?

Who’s to say what “fair coverage” entails? Perhaps Ailes was saying they would certainly cover the pro issue, and all of the con issue’s.

I’m waiting for the rest of the media to tell the same to Sarah Palin. Oh, they would, but it would just be more lies.

And I hear that the Nerf folks recently received a major order for balls to an unknown location.

He said Obama had expressed concerns about Fox News Channel's portrayal of him and his wife Michelle.

So, McCain got the same assurances from ABC, NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, PBS, CBS, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Newsweek, TIME, USA Today, The LA Times and... no?

Didn't think so.
