McCain: Pushback on Palin hard and early today
Newsday ^ | September 3, 2008 | John Riley

Posted on 09/03/2008 5:51:17 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

You could see this coming a mile away:

With Palin scheduled to speak tonight, the McCain campaign comes out swinging early -- attacking the media for unfair treatment of its nominee, and promising an ad that will say Palin is more qualified than Obama.

In one e-mail, the campaign castigates the New York Times for a (Tuesday) story reporting that Palin was a member of the splinter Alaska Independence Party in the 1990s, based on what turned out to be an erroneous statement by one of the party's leaders. The party has secessionist and Christianist links, according to various accounts. Palin's husband was a member according to Alaska voting records, but not Palin herself.

McCain: "What kind of operation are the editors at theTimes running?"

Also, Politico's Mike Allen this morning reprints a long McCain attack on media coverage hitting MSNBC, CNN and others, promising that “the McCain campaign will launch a television ad directly comparing Governor Palin’s executive experience as a governor who oversees 24,000 state employees, 14 statewide cabinet agencies and a 10 billion dollar budget to Barack Obama’s experience as a one-term junior Senator from Illinois” and “a forward-leaning effort to counter the shameless smears that have prevailed during Governor Palin’s introduction to the American voter.”

Right on with this advice. Let it be heard loud and clear. Be active in this as it gets results. Lost people love money, it’s their god and they will back off before loosing it.

McCain needs to pushback, and hard and in a continual manner. Not a once and done operation. Probably needs a small team assigned to fight the smears. The truth has a way of getting diminished by the power of suggestion.....this needs to be countered at every turn.

Perhaps “Christianist” is a term to describe the opposite of an “Obamunist” anyway as the democratics see it. I no longer use the term “democrat” as it is offensive to democratics.

Christopher Hitchens invented that term to counteract the term “Islamist.”

You are very kind-hearted.

"Christianist links"

What's a Christianist, a group of suicidal Amishmen? It's an offensive term, but then it's an offensive author:

"No matter who does what, you can count on the media to overdo its reaction, then attack the media and count on a fair number of people to skip over the merits of the original controversy. If you hate the media, vote McCain/Palin!"

Biased journalism at it's finest.

The Republicans are finally taking on the corrupt MSM and it’s about time. The MSM has pulled all the stops in its partisanship for Obama and made it clear that even the appearance of neutrality has been abandoned. If you’re a Republican, especially a conservative, there’s no longer an upside to trying to remain on good terms with the media. If the American people like Gov. Palin, the backlash against the MSM will leave it in worse shape than the DNC will be in come November.

We have nothing to lose but I fear the damage is done. For so many years the Repubs just take it and never fight back. To start now after days of just letting them get by with this is too little too late. We need a miracle to win this election.

Why do you need 'facts' to get in the way? Obviously, the LSM, liberals, Democrats and other evil-doers don't let 'facts' get in the way; they simply ignore them and go for the best, most catchy soundbite they can muster (i.e., what they read from their talking points faxes) that will stay throughout a newscycle day.

The spewings from their mouths should be treated for what it really is. You should carry a roll of Charmin and wipe off their mouths after they get finished evacuating.

Has the rumor that Sarah Palin was part of the Alaskan Independence Party been officially debunked? I want to rub this in some of my liberal friends faces, but I also want to have my facts in order before doing so.

Yes, but ABC radio news repeated it as fact again this morning. No way they don't know it is a lie. >

Well, I went to the site and attempted to post a comment about the column:

I find the term 'Christianist' offensive.

Just a term devised by you to jerk the chains of Christians I guess and make you appear to be really intelligent.

What kind of extremist are you?

Each time I received this message. Wonder if they are picking and choosing the replies? /sarc

I hope she wears her hair up tonight. I like her better that way. Maybe she looks stronger. I’m not sure why I think that. Just my opinion.

Made up term?

They need to do a funny ad, showing actors portraying the exploding media. Sorta Sat Nite Live stuff. Then show the adults.

People are calling talk radio this morning. Live in rural areas without cable and got practically nothing on TV. News anchors show only clips, Bush with no audience or applause, just a dry video. People are upset. Should have a DVD available for Repubs to buy since the media is no longer real.

Remember how the MSM reacted to Bush's response to the "most admired philosopher" question. His profession of faith in Christ elicited not just discussion, but outright dismay, and then derision and disgust.

Those in the press and in politics who think it is foolish to look anywhere beyond their own selves for the Source of wisdom, truth, grace and mercy, HATE being reminded of the possibility that there just might be another Source for such blessings, and that it was HUBRIS and HATRED very much akin to what they hold in their own "human all too human" hearts that joined in the chorus of "crucify Him, crucify Him."

In other words--the antagonism from the "elite" may be intellectual in nature, but it is NOT RATIONAL!

Did you see the “interview” conducted by Campbell Brown when she went absolutely hysterical regarding Palin’s fitness to be commander-in-chief? It was horrifying.

Photobucket Is there a man alive who would not take orders from this woman? Forget Campbell whats-her-face.

AIP- Alaskan Independence Party: "The party has secessionist and Christianist links, according to various accounts."

Grief, if I move to Alaska, I will probably join the AIP.
