OREGON CD-1: Businessman Joel Haugen announced Tuesday he was withdrawing as the GOP nominee but would remain in the race against Congressman David Wu (D) as the nominee of the Independent Party. Although a registered Republican, Haugen had been running with dual ballot spots. Haugen came under fire in recent days when he announced his support for Barack Obama. The deadline for GOP to replace a nominee has passed, so they will not be able to field any candidate against Wu on the November ballot.

Haugen, a trojan horse Democrat who openly endorsed Obama, wins the GOP nomination for a potentially competitive district, runs out the clock to make sure the GOP cannot run a candidate in November, and then conveniently withdraws as their nominee. How convenient.

This is the kind of man our Republican party backs in primaries.
“We need every RINO we can get,” some idiots here on FR say.
You what the idiots buy us.

Joel Haugen, the not-really-that-Republican challenger to Democratic U.S. Rep. David Wu, is suing Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury, contending that a recent decision by Bradbury’s office could further weaken Haugen’s already long-shot bid for Congress.
Haugen was peeved that Bradbury wouldn’t let him be listed on the ballot as both a “Republican” and “Independent” candidate.

you don't have to back any Pubs....why don't you go over to your friends at the Rats and see if you can find any conservatives there......good luck......
furthermore....no one is forcing you to back anyone .....if you are adamant about who the Pub party runs in elections, then get your tail involved in the Pub party ....
but if you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem...

Well, some Oregon Republicans voted for him in the primaries. You get what you voted for.

It does, but the OR GOP has been asleep at the switch lately. The fact that we’re allowing other open seats to go unchallenged is criminal. Unfortunately, it isn’t exclusive to OR, either.

It sounds as though Haugen has been struck by the Obama “tingle.”

ALL of the Arkansas federal offices, except for that of Congressman Boozman, will have no GOP challengers (and we could win all of them). Outrageous.

Hey cherry, it would appear you must then be one of those who help get RINOs into office, which then screw our party over, huh?
You got a bit defensive at my comments. Get over it and start supporting conservatives.
