Observation (Vanity)
Today | Me

Posted on 09/02/2008 11:34:16 AM PDT by Harry Wurzbach

Sorry for this vanity, but I think it's important to point out that Gov. Palin has survived her first full and direct sleazeball assault from the Left and a fully engaged media. The daughter story, if anything, will make her a more sympathetic figure to many. The trooper story is much ado about nothing. It sounds bad, but the truth that will come out is that the ex brother-in-law was a first class jerk who tasered his 10 year old stepson, drank while in his patrol car, and threatened to kill Gov. Palin's father. Cokie Roberts of all people pointed that out on Sunday morning.

Now we find out she once was busted for a fishing violation (out of date paperwork), her husband had a DUI 20 years ago, and as Mayor she greeted Pat Buchanan and the AIP. Again, where's the beef?

Now that the media has done a good job of promoting Governor Palin's name and story, all that's left is for her to knock her acceptance speech out of the park tomorrow night. Then I'm sure the media cycle after that will be about Republicans wanting to swap out McCain with Palin for the top spot on the ticket.

So hang tight people, this is going to be one heck of a ride.

I don't need a stupid speech to tell me that Gov Palin is a real American, and her opponents are not.

One need not wait for media approval of a convention speech to know who to vote for in November.

Probably.. but her husband no doubt butchered it..
and hauled it out of the wilderness, vacuum wrapped and froze it..

If as the media says Palin is an inexperienced lightweight mayor of a town of 9000 that will not make a difference in the election results, Why are they so hellbent on destroying her?

Well, that and the VP debates.

Palin is such a risk because she has yet to be defined and the definition that sticks to people’s minds will help determine whether we get our guy in the white house on election day.

Hopefully the McCain camp realizes this too and Palin knocks both her acceptance speech and her debate performance out of the park.

Palin will be fine, beyond fine. If McCain wins it will be BECAUSE of this pick, not in spite of it.

The Left is so desperate they believe their own bulls*it.

Man up and get to work. We have over TWO FULL MONTHS to protect America from the socialist hordes!

I try to remember what I was like back in 2000 when Gore was trying to steal the election in Florida. My stomach was tied in knots for weeks

No, that’s here in the lower 48. My sister lived in Alaska for 4 years- and wished it was longer. She and her husband together processed everything from salmon to carabou, moose to buffalo.

I don't need a stupid speech to tell me that Gov Palin is a real American, and her opponents are not.

Still, it will be her second speech before the whole nation. A grand slam will help immensely.

This woman has been raked over the coals and trashed worse than almost any candidate I've ever seen except maybe a few potential appointees to the SC and he who must not be named at this point.

I wish they had vetted Obama like they are vetting this woman. They jump on planes and fly to Anchorage and trek to Wasilla looking for needles in haystacks. How many reporters jumped on planes and flew to Indonesia, Honolulu and Kenya, even Chicago, to get to the bottom of things?

CNN did do a couple pieces that didn't put Obama in the best light, but now they seem back in same old same old mode.

Sarah Palin will get an ovation tomorrow night, before and after her speech, that will make Obama the Pretender jealous. It will be huge.

All it takes is for the people to see it as such. As long as she talks over the media and to the people she’ll be fine.

Pretty much. As she was new to the race and the media hadn’t done their job and figured out she could be a VP pick and actually reported on her beforehand then you have a compressed period of time in which she was to be examined.

Think about it. We have no money for influence scandals. No affairs. No anything except a lot of minor crap hitting the news cycle all at once. After her speech and once she starts hitting the trail things will be fine.

Right. And what have they found? Nothing.

The worst thing from a campaign theme/agenda perspective is the trooper matter, and at the end of the day that was about her jerk ex brother-in-law who threatened to kill her father, tasered his 10 year old stepson, and drank while in his patrol car.

All of the media harping on her daughter is ultimately a plus for Palin. The right is squarely behind her and will only be more motivate the more the media reports on it. In addition it will make her a sympathetic figure to many across the spectrum. The media, between its zealous support for Obama, willingness to attack any Republican candidate, and voracious appetite for controversy to attract viewers and readers fell into pushing this story way too far.
