“Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager and the person at the point of the vice presidential process, said there was no abrupt change of course in the final hours. Nor, he said, was Palin selected without having gone through the full vetting process that was done for other finalists. That process included reviews of financial and other personal data, an FBI background check and considerable discussion among the handful of McCain advisers involved in the deliberations.”

When the MSM raises such a question “on behalf of Republicans”, then I know we’ve done a good thing.

McCain’s campaign has dispatched a team of a dozen communications operatives and lawyers to Alaska.

Steve Schmidt, a senior adviser, said the campaign always planned to send a “jump team” to the eventual running mate’s home state to work with the nominee’s staff, help with information requests from local and national reporters, and answer questions about documents that were part of the review.

Frank Marshall Davis, Khalid al Mansour, Saul Alinsky, Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, David Axelrod, Mazen Asbahi....

Oh, that’s the radical machine-messiah on the other side. My bad.

Only the McCain camp can answer that. Given what all is at stake I would assume it was thorough. I would hope that none of this is a surprise to them.

The Romneyites are still upset that McCain didn’t pick Romney.

And did I mention he's pro-infanticide?

What a nothing story.

The true story is that so-called political “journalists” didn’t do their jobs and report on a young, extremely popular female Governor of Alaska before she was John McCain’s VP selection.

There’s nothing brought up that brings into question the vetting process. This is another example of reporters trying to create news when there is none.

They’re desperate. Now they’re no longer talking about her, they’re talking about a process that took place over the last year.

You know I think if McCain put up Christ himself, there would be some on FR whose first response would be “You mean that funny looking hippie that hangs out with whores and deadbeats!?!”

Yes.

Although I do think the impact of her 1993 guilty plea to using a drift gillnet to harvest salmon is being underestimated.

************************EXCERPT INTRO***********************

Palin explained the fishing violation by saying that she had been a crew member but took over the permit for that season from her sister-in-law. Palin then forgot to switch her registration from that of a crew member to a permit holder, she said.

Palin called the court in Dillingham and straightened out the mistaken felony designation. The court clerk described it as a “data input error” and faxed Palin a letter of apology, saying the error has been corrected.

But in recent days reporters have anonymously received copies of the court record calling it a felony. “I think it’s pretty cowardly,” Palin said. “Somebody is peddling this five days before the election, obviously to smear my reputation.”
