Members of 'Fringe' Alaskan Independence Party Say Palin Was a Member in 90s (New leftist attack)
ABC News ^ | 9/01/08 | Jake Tapper

The campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., likes to herald the independence of its new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which, since the 1970s, has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.

And while McCain's motto -- as seen in a new TV ad -- is "Country First," the AIP's motto is the exact opposite -- "Alaska First -- Alaska Always."

FYI....Smoking crack cocaine is what I understood he had been doing.

Oh, and his dealing with illegal drugs was not simply trying a joint, he was committing a felony crime each time he bought/possessed and ingested cocaine.

We newed to see some non-leftist poll movement. CBS and Gallup are in the tank for Barry. I am surprised at Rasmussen. Normally leftist Zogby is seeing the move to McCain-Palin (+2), as is CNN (-1).

I TOTALLY agree with you . EVERY DAY there should be a major Republican calling a press conference slamming Obama’s racist church background. Once again the Republicans are playing nice and wimping out on us. They will pay dearly this time and not only blow the election but the country will suffer major damage as well.

I had a cousin who got herself pregnant shortly after her 18th birthday. She married the daddy (her boyfriend) and, after a rough patch, things seem to be going OK. They went on to have another kid.

Sarah Palin’s kid pregnant? As far as Sarah’s prospects are concerned, SO F***ING WHAT?

(There was a time when that probably would have been the end of Sarah’s political life, but we, as they say, have gotten beyond that.)

She was a member of a secessionest organization? Holy smoke, I think I love her! As bad as it was going to be for me to pull that lever for McPain I will do it gleefully now!

Don’t the dimwits in the MSM know that the vast majority of Americans can identify with this woman?

Back in ‘92, when Clintoon came in 3rd in the general election, one could’ve called the Democrat party a fringe party. Frankly, seeing its membership since Watergate, it should definitely be called that.

Whoops, I meant Clintoon coming in 3rd in Utah... Where the Dems would be a “fringe” party.

So what they are going to try to do is make you scared of me,” Palin warned, “You know she's not pro choice enough. Her kids have funny names. You know, she doesn't look like all of those other vice presidents on the dollar bills. Did I mention, she's a woman.” Photobucket

I used to be a democrat until I started to read something besides Sci-Fi and earn more than the minimum wage.

I evolved...so did she. What’s the BFD?

The Mainstream media won’t get this, but politics in Alaska has shifting labels yet the concept is the same.....most try to “out-Libertarian” the other. With the very popular former Governor Wally Hickel jumping on the AIP at the time in his 1990 Governor’s race, many gravitated to that party. It would be logical for someone like Palin to then sign up.

Few that year wanted to vote for Arliss Sturgilewski or Tony Knowles.

I have never seen the MSM go to the sewer for news the way they all have since Palin’s acceptance speech. They really have to be scared to go to such depths and sink so low.

Sewer rats FINALLY have someone to look down at with this tactic. As another FReeper said today, "They are lower than whale **** [excrement] on the ocean floor."

I agree, and worse yet, it's usually the GOP vice-presidential candidate who does the attacking for the team. I'm not sure a woman can do this effectively. It would be interesting to see some videos on how Palin handled herself in earlier campaigns.

She's going to have to hit Obama on those weak points such as Wright, but as yet we know little about her church, her religious background; and on his extreme pro-abortion position, for which attack she is excellently equipped; and on his connection to Ayers and Rezko. Because the press doesn't want to cover these things, she's going to have to bring them up again and again, and do it in such a way that she retains her appeal while wounding Obama.

Not going to be easy.
