McCain's pick puzzles many in valley

GOP LAUDS PALIN AS 'ROLE MODEL'

By Patrick May
Mercury News Article Launched: 08/30/2008 01:32:52 AM PDT

Sarah who?

John McCain's decision to yank little-known Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin from the obscurity of the great northern tundra and dub her his running mate had Silicon Valley Democrats and even some Republicans scratching their heads Friday.

A brilliant end-run around opponent Barack Obama's mantra of change? A blatant attempt to throw a tantalizing bone to Hillary Clinton's more disgruntled female supporters?

"Who's she?" asked Democrat and former San Jose Mayor Susan Hammer. "I don't know what McCain's motives are, but I can't imagine any Hillary supporters supporting a conservative like Palin. She's pro-life and it seems she'd oppose virtually everything Hillary talked about during the campaign."

San Jose Mockery News...

San Jose Jerkery Nudes...

San Jose Murky Snooze...

Those pricks never had a clue. Every single article/editorial has some leftist slant. If it wasn’t for the automobile ads, coupons and fluff, they would be out of business...

The front page of the Merc really pi$$ed me off this morning. The big headline typically poses the negative question “Why Sarah Palin?”

Their coverage of Sarah Palin rather than the soaring excellence of Hussein's polemic at the temple proves that not only do they know who Sarah Palin is, they think she's more important than Hussein.

“McCain has chosen a time bomb.”

Can you explain this a little more?

We’ve been talking about her around here long before she ever ran governor or thought she was going to. She was even mentioned a possible Senate appointee for the seat Lisa Murkowksi now holds. That was several years ago. Anyone halfway politically astute knows who she is - if not before, then certainly after she rocked the establishment in Alaska and won that governor race - defeating an incumbent governor and decades long politcal veteran in the primary, and then another (former) governor in the general. “Who’s she?” Please.

Ten to one odds the reference was meant to scare and depress you, but all it was hinting at was the stupid investigation in AK regarding a firing of a state employee that allegedly had something to do with her sister’s divorce from another state employee. Got it? LOL

Anyway, Palin herself welcomed and asked for the investigation.

This McCain basher, died in the wool conservative, and Alaskan recognizes that McCain has chosen a time bomb. This won’t be pretty Freepers. It looks like we will get our time in the wilderness. Let’s hope that when it’s time to emerge, we don’t still think the solution is nominating another liberal like McCain. This is a sad time for our country.

Aha... Both Stuunned and Stoned.

You bet.

You can see that John's campaign is empirically oriented. It responds to what is on the ground and goes on to carry the battle to the Obamites.

Obama's campaign is reduced to being scattered, and is responsive only to the fog of war ( polls), not the conditions that matter ( the hearts and minds of Americans).

John has chosen the ground of battle, arrayed his forces accordingly, and has a chain of command.

Obama is herding cats, and all they can do is yowel and tweek the MSM. Loosing formula.

You gotta love it.

“This is a sad time for our country.”

Funny, I feel just the opposite. This is the best and happiest I've felt about the country and political race in the last year.

My first reaction when I heard the Palin announcement was that John McCain and the Republicans had just won the election and that the country was safe and would survive at least for a while longer.

I would hope that conservatives and Republicans would be the least doctrinaire and most pragmatic, realistic and reason based of all the parties and political philosophies in order for the country and what it represents to survive in an illogical and hostile world.

McCain’s pick for VP was one of the most brilliant political moves I’ve ever seen. Not only did it bring people like me on board, it completely unhinged the left, as if they had any hinges remaining.

You’re correct, they are insane with anger. It’s why they are unable to see just how ridiculous their experience argument is. The leftist collective had its orders filtered down immediately to attack Palin’s lack of experience for being one step away from the White House.

Democrat women in the Bay Area/Silicon Valley are confused when they see a woman who is feminine, has long hair, and is married with children. I’m not surprised former Mayor Hammer didn’t know who Palin is.

Failing that, look for them to argue next that as a female she'll be too emotional.

Ha Ha! As a Californian for 42 years I feel so out of place among all the leftist wackos here....fortunately I have a pod of conservatives around me as a buffer zone!

I wish someone would write a book “What is the matter with Silicon Valley” From everything I have ever read about the tech industry the Republican Presidents have done more for it than the Liberals.

If you a highly paid software engineer or head of a new high tech start up why would you be supporting someone who wants to increase your taxes?
