Barack Obama has had an unprecedented slide in polling over the summer, losing as much as twelve points nationally and squandering momentum gained from besting Hillary Clinton in the primaries. Gallups polling has mirrored that of almost every other national survey, and they drill down to find the answer to Obamas decline:
Barack Obama has been struggling to maintain his Democratic base thus far in August, and according to weekly averages of Gallup Poll Daily tracking, the problem seems to be with conservative Democrats.Within the Democratic Party, Obamas losses are primarily evident among the relatively small group that describes its political views as conservative. The 63% of conservative Democrats supporting Obama over McCain in Aug. 18-24 polling is the lowest Obama has earned since he clinched the Democratic nomination in June. At the same time, there have been no similar drops in support for Obama in the preferences of liberal or moderate Democrats.
As a result of this, support for Obama among all Democratic registered voters fell from 81% in early August (Aug. 4-10) to 78% last week (Aug. 18-24). Obamas support from Republicans over this period also dipped from 9% to 7%, while 42% to 43% of independents have consistently supported him.
Its not just conservative Democrats, either, although that has to be Obamas main concern at the moment. Blue-dog Democrats have to run for tough Congressional races in the fall, and they will get linked to Obama regardless of whether they publicly embrace him or not. If Obama is losing credibility among conservative Democrats, the Blue Dogs will find that Obamas impact on their race will become a net negative and could cost some of them their seats most of which they won from Republicans in 2006.

....and the beat goes on....
Bar Rack Osama is going to roundhouse kick conservative Democraps and Ramussin, because Bar Rack Osama’s vote count will exceed the world’s population several times...
This is a man with no resume.
What little there is can’t be documented. He is the man who never was.
I am not, by the way, saying his name or his race SHOULD be a reason not to vote for him. I'm simply saying that I can't see old time Democrats marking Obama on their ballots.
Conservative Dems??? Both of them?
That’s because nobody cares about the DNC coronation. Practically no one is watching it despite it being on EVERY news network and all three broadcast networks, and PBS. Hell, they could put it on EVERY channel and people would rather read a book or surf the web or watch their toenails grow.
A lot of us knew Jackie O, and Michelle O is no Jackie O.
Her dead cat didn't bounce, either......
I think Republican House members can and should run against Obama this fall...actually use Obama in their ads with Pelosi. Rather than being scared by the “generic dem” number, just go straight at them.
How many megatons do you think will be needed?
:)
Why does the headline name Rasmussen when the story is about Gallup polling?
Well things are getting interesting as to how the election will turn out. The conventional wisdom has been that Dems. will gain congressional seats in November, but, based on this, they may not be able to build on their gains in the Nov. ‘06 mid term elections.
Stay tuned on that; if we do see a President Obama, he may not have enough good Democrats in Congress to do what he wants to do to the country.
OK I heard the Sistah Michelle Ma Belle o Rama speech. So, Barack is a good husband and father and personally a nice man, she grew up in a home with loving parents and a supportive brother...but it’s not telling of what he would do in the White House....means nothing. She is a good speaker, though. Sistah Michelle, you go girl!-—back to the law firm baby.
Sounds like a double naught spy...........
It’s not his name, nor his color, it’s the lack of love of country shared by him and his wife.
You mean you didn’t get all excited about Mark Warner’s keynote speech?
Chrissie Mathews was disappointed. He said Warner’s speech was a speech to help him get elected to the Senate, not one that would fire up the Democrats in the Pepsi Center.
Speaking of san Fran Gran Nan; she defintiely made an a$$ out of herself when trying to spin the Catholic Church’s position on abortion. Lady, stick to what you know; partisan politics.
