Denver -- It was powerful, it was passionate -- and from inside the hall here, it was one killer speech.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton brought the house down with her address tonight at the Democratic National Convention, where it looked to be about a 9-plus on the Richter scale.
The insiders had warned that Clinton had to deliver bigtime tonight -- for her legacy, and for her future, as well as for Obama.
Deliver she did. Republicans, of course, had their views -- that she delivered evidence that their guy, John McCain, is the only one ready to hit ground running at the White House. Here's some thoughts from critics and insiders:
*Phil Trounstine, Democratic strategist and Obama supporter: ''Sen. Clinton did everything she needed to do. She made it crystal clear to all of her supporters that it is their duty to fight on for her by supporting Barack Obama. If he becomes president, it will be in part because Hillary Clinton had the grace and strength to re-unite her party.''
*Ruth Sherman, author and communications consultant: ''I've never seen her this good, not even close. . . .

Carla Marinucci is a big time Dem and only writes puff pieces when it comes to Dems, but never writes anything positive about Pub’s.
It’s even an inside joke among the libs that post on the SFGate forum how partisan she is.
While we're at it, if the bald-headed woman with cancer needed health care so desperately, why was she already bald? Doesn't that mean she was getting chemo and HAD medical care already?
Show observable (but fake) support for newborn-baby-Kevorkian-Marxist Obama; then...
Clandestinely undermine Obama's campaign and election by dredging up (what THEY call Swift Boat) issues, and making it look as if conservative peeps did the gumshoe work.
I suspect (but have no proof) that Hillary plans two objectives for the November elections.
(1) Hillary will see to it that Marxist Obama looses; and,
(2) Hillary will see to it that Republicans get blamed for doing the smearing that SHE is secretly behind.
.
One line that will haunt her.
“Americans aren’t quitters.”
Except for Vietnam, Somalia and Iraq.
No, it wasn't even that. It was vote for Obama because he's the dem. Any dem. Her speech as to Obama was absolutely generic - could have been any dem's name in there. Not that he was better than McCain; just that he's the dem.
Hillary wants 2012.
But tonight, she had to carry the party line to preserve her chances. Not a hard thing for her to do. Totally and utterly lie.

Yes, it was mostly about Hillary, but she nailed it. One of the best speeches she’s ever delivered. No way Obama can top her speech. She did exactly what she intended to do.
Hillary’s speech was indeed a grand slam. The problem is that Obama’s speech will seem a bunt single by comparison. And that crying black woman on CNN who said that she cannot vote for Obama will not be impressed.

This whole baseball metaphor has been planted by the liberals and already used repeatedly by Olbermann and the leftwing bloggers. So blatantly transparent in its lameness.
The speech was one of the worst, most cliche ridden pieces of garbage ever spoken. It made Jimmy Carter look eloquent by comparison. Their next talking point will be when Oblahma gives another of his long winded platitude-a-thons about how super special it was.
The Dems have totally bombed this convention. It is no wonder that they have LOST ground in recent polling ever since they started. Makes one wonder if they had a long enough convention would anyone bother voting for them at all?
That's been their MO for years now. All the flowery speech and platitudes out the wah-zoo, but never a hint as to how they plan to achieve their pipe dreams. That's the hallmark of a liberal, they have all these grandiose schemes but they are clueless when it comes to making them a reality. Oh, they spend lots of money, other people's money, and they get a lot done but any similarity between their plans and what it takes to actually get something accomplished is purely coincidental.
After watching them for nearly 60 years I've decided they're like adolescents who think they are in love, but in fact are in love with the idea of being in love.
Like you, I've heard nothing, absolutely nothing, that sounds like they would run the risk of solving the problems they've used to stay in office, and power, for years!
You're right.
I didn't watch Hillary's speech, but my mother did.
She used the word UTOPIA.
I remember just after Billy Jeff took office, after promising the same middle tax cut that's being promised now.
He tried with all of his might to find a way to cut the middle class's taxes.
He just couldn't figure out how.
Rinse and repeat....
If Hillary was so good, then why did Barak Obama reject even considering her as his running mate?
Answer: he’s not just inexperienced; he’s also insecure.
I saw the first 5 minutes. She looked old and wore an ugly outfit and sounded shrill and hackneyed and she lacked conviction.
Douglas MacArthur was right, or was he?
She enthralled the crowd like a shrill substitute teacher.
When is Jimmy Carter scheduled to speak? /sarc
