Polar Bears Seen Swimming For Their Lives (Bush's fault)
The Daily Green ^ | Aug. 25, 2008 | Dan Shapely

Ten polar bears have been spotted swimming in open water during an aerial survey as the peak of summer sea ice melting nears.

Drowning polar bears has only been seen as a threat to the species in recent years as the extent of sea ice recedes to historic low levels. Last year, there was more open water than ever before recorded; this year's melt, while dramatic, won't reach the same extent as 2007.

Has anyone ever asked how far a polar bear can swim? Research? And has anyone ever seen the carcass of a polar bear bobbing on that open sea? So how do they know they drown? And if they watched them drown, why didn’t the libs mount a rescue for the next lot?

I tried drowning polar bears once. They didn't like it.

A big lie by the left wing Communist. Polar Bears are smart enough that they do not do what these idiots say they do and they are not endangered as they have increased in numbers over 6 times during the past few years. And this year there is 30% more ice in the north than last year.

There is absolutely NO EVIDENCE whatsoever of polar bears drowning while in the open ocean. In fact, the polar ice cap is LARGER this summer than past summers.

“this year’s melt, while dramatic...”

DRAMATIC?

It’s actually quite normal this year, historically speaking.

Drowning polar bears is merely natural selection at work improving the species. Those that are so stupid as to swim too far away from the nearest place to get out of the water will not contribute the gene pool of future generations. Problem solved.

This reminds me of a quote, but I cannot remember by whom. We are but mere butterflies on a tree living out day long life. If there is proof of periodic ice ages then there is obviously proof of periodic global warming trends. This is not the first time this happens and it wont be the last. Has anyone seen that new ridiculous show on Discovery Channel about Eco Engineering? I mean, my God, how on Earth can they tell us that we're destroying the planet when these guys are planning to cover the entire Greenland Ice Shelf with white blankets! I mean seriously? Where is the logic?

I read somewhere that a polar bear can swim hundreds of miles. Whether that means 200 or 900 I have no way of knowing. I' s'pect if he can swim even 100, he can sleep while swimming, although I know zip about the life style other than it's darned cold where they live.

I bet, here and now, that no polar bear extant will get himself so far out in the ocean that he can't make it to WHEREVER might be his destination I.E. that he can't do a full gainer with a twist, come up smiling and take off for shores of his imagination and arrive safely.

They actually appear to LIKE being underwater if you see them in the wild or in a zoo:

It's underwater where all the FOOD is.

I believe they have been traced swimming more than 100 miles from any ice. They eat while swimming and have no problems swimming long distances.

Actually this year's melt has not been dramatic and last year's was the result of unusual winds not global warming.

Sweet baby Jesus, there’s another article on the same site where a polar bear was trapped, ON LAND!
