“Then, perhaps mindful of how his off-the-cuff remarks might be taken, Clinton added after a pause: “This has nothing to do with what’s going on now.””

That’s not a hypothetical question.
It is an accurate representation of where the Democrats find themselves at this point in time.
I’m afraid I’ve gotta give this round to Slick Willy.

I agree - but also I think that more than Hillary turned the hood rat down.
Even Caroline kennedy isn’t stupid enough to pick Biden straight up.

"Suppose that Candidate X is a shallow narcissistic lying empty suit friendly to terrorists and America-haters everywhere, who spouts nice platitudes about 'change' and 'hope' but cannot deliver on anything, while Candidate Y is a lying, shrill, nasty tiresome hag still "married" to a bombastic impeached former President who should have retired from public life a long time ago. Which candidate are YOU going to vote for?

I keep thinking of the scene in “The Dark Knight” in which Alfred (Michael Caine) explains the psychology of the Joker to Bruce Wayne: “Some men just want to watch the world burn.”
