Yes, I know she says she does not want to be vice president. Biden also said that. If offered she is not going to turn down the opportunity to make history. I know she will not be the first women running for vice president. But she will be the first QUALIFIED woman to do so. Geraldine Ferraro was the first one. But like Barack Obama, she was essentially an affirmative action choice. There can be no questioning of the first US female senator from the Texas, Kay Bailey Hutchison qualifications or her vote getting ability.

No executive experience and Pro-Choice.
No thanks.
Bad choice. She’s as dull as drying paint. Hey, I’m a Romney guy but if McCain wants a woman on the ticket, go with Sara Palin.
Gee, no thanks. ;)
This is the 2nd thread today about Hutchison.
IMHO, this wouldn’t be a spectacular choice, but I could live with it. And it could be a good one from a purely political standpoint.
Nope. She’s also a squish on borders.
Uh, no. She’s not a serious contender, is she?
weak
I like Hutchinson but I think he ought to go with Sara Palin.
Affirmative action is a trap set by the left. It is a trap made of quicksand, and one-by-one the pundits are sliding into it.
Pleeeeeeeease. We’re from TX and do not want another RINO.
Horrible idea.
Identity politics is a democrat game.
My headline:
McCain, use common sense - DON’T choose a woman (for a woman’s sake) or a minority (for minorities’ sake) this time around.
There is a strong possibility - given McCain’s age and prior health history - that the vice-president this time around could well face the assumption of the presidency between 2009 and 2012.
Given the reality that we are in [the waning days of] one war, and could very well be embroiled in _another_ war before the incoming president’s term is up, it is essential that we have someone with the constitution to be a “wartime president” in the office of the vice-presidency.
And - at full risk of being labeled a chauvinist - there is currently NO female holding elected office in America, anywhere, that I would estimate HAS that “intestinal fortitude” to be a wartime president.
War - quite frankly - is the business of men, NOT of women. They tend to be “peacemakers” and peace-seekers, using compromise to avoid conflict.
That is the LAST THING we want in the Oval Office these days.
I know this post will arise some hackles. So be it.
Again, the WORST mistake we can make at this time is to select a woman solely for the fact that she lacks male gonads. Sorry.
- John
Qualified women - Phyllis Schlaffly. Michelle Malkin.
Indeed, Palin is the brilliant choice for a sure win.
She is hardly what I call pro-choice.
Here is her voting record on abortion:

It’s conservative, except on Stem Cells.
humpf.
Those Clintons are up to something devious - they really want John McCain to win this one so Shillary can run in 2012.
McCain’s VP selection has to be more than perfect......
who could it be?
clueless Sod;(
