GOD WILL NOT LET YOU FALL
My family and I went camping this past summer. We took several hikes down the little river bed as it flowed through the Cuyamaca State Park near our home in San Diego. We topped for a picnic lunch, and ate with our feet in the cool running water.
As I ate my sandwich, I started tracing a trail through the rocks that shot up into the air in front of us. It was an old habit from days gone by of rock scrambling: no ropes, no hardware, no helmet, no brains! As teenagers, and even into college, my buddies and I would climb the rocks of Big Bend in Texas. I'm sure I'll get in trouble with the folks from safety but I confess: I got up and started to climb; partly to prove something to myself and mostly to show off for my bride of nine years.
Our daughter of fifteen watched me for a bit and started to follow. She caught up with me and we went over the basics. I showed her the path she was to take which involved little skill and kept mom happy. I took the more difficult route and we met at the top. Unless you rappel, getting down is usually more difficult, so I stayed close to Tiffany in order to offer help should she need it. The tendency is to cling to the rock but often it's best to lean out away from it for better balance and stability. As she was coming down, I was below verbally guiding her. She couldn't see the next ledge below her, and was trying her best to stretch in order to touch it while hanging on to the hand hold above. I could see exactly what she needed to do and knew she was capable of doing it. I told her she just had to trust me. With confidence in Dad, she lowered herself the last few inches and fully planted her feet on secure rock. You could see the pride shining in her eyes (and probably, mine too)!
Just think of how many times our heavenly "Dad" is below us; seeing the next step p[erfectly, even when we are blind to the future. There are times when we simply have to trust God to not let us fall. The more we learn to depend on God the easier it gets to place our lives into those loving hands with confidence. The next time you find your footing somewhat unsure, and the fear of falling looms up from below, remember that God is there for you, anxious to show you the way and guide you one step at a time.

Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier or National Guardsman
Feel alone or forgotten.
O Lord, each of us has fears that betray; worries that capture and shake
out our joy. We find ourselves in limbo because we are neither here nor
there. We are in a time of transition, of getting ready. Change and
chance surround us. Help us, O Lord, to return to your presence. Cause
us to find the point and purpose of each day. All we ask is that you keep
us on our feet so that we might walk with you. Bless us this night and
grant us rest. Amen.

GOD BLESS AND PROTECT OUR TROOPS!
Amazing Grace
by John Newton
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; Was blind, but now I see. . Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, . And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed! . Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come; Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, And grace will lead me home. . The Lord has promised good to me, His Word my hope secures; He will my Shield and Portion be, As long as life endures. . Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, And mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, A life of joy and peace. . The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, The sun forbear to shine; But God, Who called me here below, Will be forever mine. . When weve been there ten thousand years, Bright shining as the sun, Weve no less days to sing Gods praise Than when wed first begun.

Gods Restraint
Surely the wrath of man shall praise You; with the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself. Psalm 76:10
Augustine said that God judged it better to bring good out of evil, than not to permit any evil to exist. Thus God takes the worst evil that men and women can do to us and turns it into good. Even the wrath of ungodly men brings praise to Him (Ps. 76:10).
God has not promised that your life will be easyindeed it may not be. But He has promised to sustain you in your struggle and uphold you with His mighty arm. If you trust Him, He will empower you to make your way bravely through extraordinary difficulty with faith, hope, and love. The trials God permits in your life will lead to His praise and glory, if only you will abide in Him.
Furthermore, there will be a restraint and a respite. The Hebrew text is somewhat obscure in Psalm 76:10. Literally it reads, Surely the wrath of man will praise You; the remnant of wrath [God] will bind. God will use mens wrath to bring glory and praise to Himself, but when that purpose is fulfilled He will then restrain it.
God will not allow you to be pressed beyond endurance. That is His sure promise. When the lesson has been learned, when the revelation of Gods glory is complete and your soul has been tried and proventhen God will raise His hand and save you. He will say, No more.
When He leads through some valley of trouble,
His omnipotent hand we trace;
For the trials and sorrows He sends us
Are part of His lessons in grace. Anon.
In every desert of trial, God has an oasis of comfort.

Angels - Explained by Children
1. I only know the names of two angels. Hark and Harold.
-- Gregory, 5
2. Everybody's got it all wrong. Angels don't wear halos
anymore. I forget why but scientists are working
on it.
-- Olive, 9
3. It's not easy to become an angel! First, you die. Then
you go to heaven, then there's still the flight training to
go through. And then you got to agree to wear
those angel clothes.
-- Matthew, 9
4. Angels work for God and watch over kids when God has to
go do something else.
-- Mitchell, 7
5. My guardian angel helps me with math, but he's not much
good for science.
--Henry, 8
6. Angels don't eat, but they drink milk from Holy Cows.
-- Jack, 6
7. Angels talk all the way while they're flying you up to
heaven. The main subject is where you went wrong before you
got dead.
-- Daniel, 9
8. When an angel gets mad, he takes a deep breath and
counts to ten. And when he lets out his breath, somewhere
there's a tornado.
-- Reagan, 10
9. Angels have a lot to do and they keep very busy. If you
lose a tooth, an angel comes in through your window and
leaves money under your pillow. Then when it gets cold,
angels go north for the winter.
-- Sara, 6
10. Angels live in cloud houses made by God and his son, who's a very good carpenter.
-- Jared , 8
11. All angels are girls because they gotta wear dresses
-- Antonio, 9
12. My angel is my grandma who died last year. She got a
big head start on helping me while she was still down here -- Kate Lynn, 9
13. Some of the angels are in charge of helping heal sick
animals and pets. And if they don't make the animals
get better, they help the child get over it.
-- Vicki, 8
14. What I don't get about angels is why, when someone is
in love, they shoot arrows at them.
--Tommy, 8
15. Angels help God sort out all the messages he gets every
Sunday morning.
---Phil, 9
