Two New York City businessmen have pleaded guilty in a scheme to distribute more than 500,000 tubes of counterfeit toothpaste imported from China.
Fifty-one-year-old Saifoulaye Diallo and 47-year-old Habib Bah each face up to 10 years in prison after entering their pleas Thursday in federal court in Brooklyn.
Prosecutors say the fake Colgate toothpaste was shipped to discount stores across the United States. They say it had no fluoride and contained microorganisms that posed health threats, but no illnesses have been reported.

Did the Magazine get any grants via Ayers-Dorhn?
Ayers is listed in the magazine. But what are grants needed for when the American people will pay for it through microorganismed toothpaste.

Jose Padilla, where have we heard that name before.

fake cut and (tooth)paste bump !!!
When I think of fake toothpaste, for some strange reason — Joseph Biden comes to mind.
It must be his Shi’iting grin..
“It must be his Shiiting grin..”
You must remember some of my earlier posts. =]
I’m glad the authorities are taking aim at this kind of crime before it reaches a crest. I knew the perps were guilty by the suspicious gleam in their eyes.
Commissioner is incorrectly spelled with only one ‘s’ on the carton. You’d think these bozos would bother with spell-check.
Forget about what microorganisms were in the Tooth Paste.<<<
Half the food here is from China and it is not fit to eat.
I am discovering that it is rancid in a couple weeks after it comes home.
We would all have a riot, if we knew what was in the products they sell us.
What foods do you buy that come from China?
Jose Padilla, where have we heard that name before.<<<
It is also a Padilla, that disappeared in the stolen air liner in South America and has still not been found.
LOL, yes on #2 at OKC, that is why the left loves him so much.
I hear ya Granny. It still amazes me to go to the market to buy garlic, only to find that it is still coming from China! Even the local organic market has >>organic<< garlic but it is from... CHINA!
And thank you Cal for the pings!
I live in a area with only 2 dollar stores and a couple of mini marts, most of what they sell is from China.
Wallmart and one of the membership stores, is China.
I suspect that most of our name brand foods, are made with chinese products, flour, crackers and tortilla chips are all with a funny smell and taste, this past year.
Due to health, I cannot go shopping and rely on a friend, so am stuck with what he has time to shop for, after he lives his own life and works.
No, it is not just my taste or smell, others can smell it.
Nabisco crackers smells, tastes, and after taste the same as the 25 pound bags of flour.
I think we do not know where most of our food comes from, even if you look closely at the label.
“California product”, may only mean that it was packed in California.
I wish we had food grown in America.
