Responding to a D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com press release issued yesterday that highlighted the Republican National Committee called out Obama bundler Jodie Evans for supporting the insurgency in Iraq, the Code Pink co-founder is quoted by the liberal website Raw Story as denying her support for the candidacy of presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama.
Evans, who co-hosted Obama's breakout Hollywood fundraiser soon after he announced his candidacy in February 2007, is listed as a bundler for the Obama campaign and has contributed the maxiumum $2300 to his primary campaign.
Evans denies that she is a friend of Obama's and says she has "no influence on his views", even though she acknowledges to Raw Story that she has met Obama several times. Her Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin claims Obama is on a first name basis with Evans and told Evans he agrees with her on ending the war in Iraq at a Hollywood fundraiser in June 2008.
In the article, Evans blames her financial support for Obama on her 'husband', Max Palevsky: "Since I'm his wife, I get tied to that effort because the money's going through both of us."
That doesn't explain her page on Barack Obama's official website, nor does it explain the endorsement of Obama she issued earlier this year, but it might explain the $2300 contribution to Obama by Evans and Palevsky's unemployed student son, Matthew Palevsky.
Raw Story glosses over Evans' endorsement of the insurgency in Iraq even as it mentions an excerpt from a Robert Novak column posted at the RNC's BarackBook.com entry on Evans that reported Code Pink's endorsement of the insurgency.
Instead, Raw story calls such factual accusations "Republicans' attempted character assassination" and lets Evans off the hook with her response: "It just seems silly to me. It's a big stretch ... so why bother? I have much more to worry about."
The D.C. Chapter of FreeRepublic.com and other pro-troop, pro-victory groups have been urging the Obama campaign to renounce Evans for her anti-American actions that, in addition to her support for the insurgency in Iraq, include sympathizing with Osama bin Laden's reasons for the 9/11 attacks and working with the anti-American governments of (the late) Saddam Hussein, Hugo Chavez and the Castro brothers.
Jodie's husband, Max, is a big time democrat activist who was also a major founding contributor of McCain's "Reform Institute." He also supported him in prior elections.

Thanks for that list. Bob Shaffer is running against Mark Udall for senate in Colorado. His website was asking why Udall won’t disclose donors, so I sent that list and website to Shaffer’s campaign.

[Mr] T
You mean Extreme Leftists support Ron Paul, like some whacked Libertarian Freepers?
Too late. The stalking horse has seen the glue factory, but the property gate has already closed...which is to say, Hillary is going to try to end his Run.
Moonbats for Paul!
No Comment(ment)
Surely an innocent coincidence...
