We would need political cohesion if we fight such a war...this requires more than a simple “chain of command” approach. We need to think beyond technicalities. Didn’t dems visit Iraq and Syria at critical times, undermining the executive branch? Yep, they did. Remember, Pelosi’s visit to Syria?

Unlike all the other countries mentioned, the US has the absolute right to intervene military at any time for pretty much any reason they say is a threat to the canal. They need no permission (they even invaded and deposed a government based on this clause).

Also, IIRC Panama was only briefly part of colombia, it was previous associated with central american states. I may be wrong about this.

Hate to say this, but IF they block access to the ISS, I think we ought to blow that bastard out of the sky when it goes over Russia....

Russia's Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying the U.S. missile shield plans are clearly aimed at weakening Russia.

WARSAW, Poland (AP)— Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice responded saying that, "All the Russian midget homosexuals say that and it borders on the bizarre frankly".

Unfortunately, a war between us and Russia will not involve soldiers. It will involve satellites, computers, rockets and brinksmanship. We have the winning hand but I hope they back down without us having to play it.

My turn to comment on this. I actually think this is PRECISELY what they want - they may eventually use nukes on us, but I THINK they want us to show our hand, to show our capabilities. The public may never see the true story of how this "war" will be fought, but the Russians will gain enough intelligence and data to be able to eventually MATCH us.

I think this is what they might truly be after here.

If only we could go back to the end of WWII we wouldn't be confronted with crap like this from Russia! We should have pushed their sorry arses back to Moscow and should have taken back all the armaments our foolish leaders gave them.

Additionally we wouldn't have had a Korean War or a Vietnam. There would be no communist Cuber off our shore and South America would be free of tyrants.

Perhaps this needs to be taken care of once and for all.

(But of course there's China too.)

Need to mention here... “Panama Canal” is in the control of the Chinese Government. Hope you all realize that, right?

The ghost of the Gipper still haunts the Russians.

They KNOW for a fact that our missile defense systems are much better than theirs. (Bush has spent a ton of money on this during his presidency.)The Russians are worried about seeing a crater in Moscow while their nuclear missiles land harmlessly in the ocean or in the desert.

Living 5 miles from part of it, I might suggest you are wrong.

This is an old old urban rumor related to the chinese influence with the ballardes government, and also with balboa and cristobal ports deal with HW. I think China has more influence over the US Congress and whatever candidates they are helping now that Clinton is out than they do here, at this point.

maybe we all should have seen this coming . . . but doesn’t it strike you as just a little odd on just how fast the Cold War got hot again . . .

and now Russia is saying they are cutting all ties with NATO . . . yea, that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy (sarc)

THE DRAGON'S FURY

World War against America and the West

Except now, I am afraid in reality that Russia would be actively fighting against us in the beginning, as opposed to just giving economic and military aid to the GIR and CAS like they were in the books.

Counting down the time for Democrats to start screaming that this is all a big right-wing conspiracy to scare people into voting Republican.

"Go ahead and move on with research and development," said Representative Ellen Tauscher, Democrat of California, who is chairwoman of the House subcommittee that oversees the missile defense program. "But as far as putting holes in the ground in Poland, we are saying no."

Senator Barack Obama is urging caution, saying the system is unproven.

These delusional Dhims are going to get significant numbers of us killed as they attempt to force us to endure an attack before we actually build defensive systems or act to defend the greatest country and advancement of man the world has ever seen!

Obambi wants a system to first have proved itself against an actual missile attack before he would want it to move forward, and other Dhims-in-charge want only more R&D money to go to their friends in Universities and NGOs, without actually implementing defensive systems.

If the US citizenry would just open its eyes to the on-display self-destructive nature of these Leftists who would give away freedoms for their own power, I would hope they would forever turn them out to pasture.

This ought to be the election where the country decides to elect 80% of the Republicans on the ballot and toss the Dhims forever to the trash heap of history!

In the past years I have seen wars in which the enemy waited and watched as our forces built up strength and did little to preempt that buildup. Equates to wishful thinking on their part that we would not attack.

I do not expect Russia to make that mistake. In Poland or Ukraine or Georgia I would expect Russia to expeditiously engage any buildup if they are feeling this threatened.

I would also expect them to try to sever source and supply lines. I would expect a preemptive attack on the US mainland prior to their engaging Poland for sure (since Rice has stated we view and attack on Polish territory as seriously as an attack on the US territory)....and perhaps even Ukraine.

When it comes to defending against them it does...but we’re in no way ready for a total defense

Right. Sooo....It doesn’t matter what continent they are on.
