State science standards in election spotlight (ID/Creation Kansans need to vote!)
The Wichita Eagle ^ | August 1, 2008 | LORI YOUNT

With five seats on the State Board of Education up for grabs this year, education advocates say how children learn about evolution hangs in the balance -- and who voters choose could affect Kansas' national reputation.

A frequent flip-flop between moderate and conservative majorities on the 10-member board has resulted in the state changing its science standards four times in the past eight years.

Conservatives have pushed for standards casting doubt on evolution, and moderates have said intelligent design does not belong in the science classroom.

In 2007, a new 6-4 moderate majority removed standards that called evolution into question.

This year, none of the three moderates whose seats are up for election are running again. Only one of the two conservative incumbents is running for re-election...

This argument is for Christians only - scoffers, don’t bother commenting.

It seems you like to set yourself apart, then complain that you're being excluded.

==So if I am on the side of evil in this “spiritual war” and my position is indistinguishable from that of the Pope and most other Catholics; do you also consider the Pope to be on the side of evil in this spiritual war?

I have never examined the Pope’s position with respect to the takeover of science by the forces of philosophical materialism. And as a protestant, I don’t look up to the Pope as my spiritual leader. I admire his stand on many political issues (especially with respect to life), but in the end I consider him fallible, just like any other man.

literal

Then the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east"

If we take this literally, it means the earth is flat and one-sided. "the East" has no meaning in a round world.

Theologically, the big difference in philosophy between Catholics and Protestants is the “baseline” of Truth.

Catholics consider the Catholic Church itself to be the baseline of truth, and anything differing from RCC doctrine is heresy.

Evangelical Protestants consider the Scriptures to be the baseline of truth.

literal

"18 The LORD God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him."
19 So the LORD God formed out of the ground various wild animals and various birds of the air,

Taken literally, Adam was created BEFORE the animals.

Yeah, and when astronomers say “the sun’s coming up” or “sunrise”, they’re saying that the sun goes around the earth. Lame-O.

As I suspected, you asked the lame question on the other thread in bad faith. And it was an ignorant and lame question at that.

I had never really thought about that before. I think you have definitely stumbled onto something there, Metmom. I will remember that the next time the Darwinsts tell IDers to shut up for lack of a unified theory.

Another ignorant interpretation, probably gleened from some liberal philosophy prof.

==Evangelical Protestants consider the Scriptures to be the baseline of truth.

That’s why so many Protestants accept YEC. All you have to do is read Genesis. It’s as plain as can be.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19956961/

On the subject of creationism and evolution...
“They are presented as alternatives that exclude each other,” the pope said. “This clash is an absurdity because on one hand there is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”
Pope Benedict XVI

Now you have no excuse for your ignorance. Now answer my question. Do you feel that in this “spiritual war” that the Pope is on the side of evil?

Yeah, and when astronomers say “the sun’s coming up”

I do not take that literally.

BTW, that is ducking the issue.

I see that you cannot take these passages literally so you are about trying to smear me instead of addressing the issue.

If you believe your own judgement is divinely inspired and infallible, then you can never be wrong. You’ll have no guilt, remorse, or conscience. We call people like this “sociopaths”.

Perhaps you’re confusing judgment with values, I dunno...and don’t frankly care.

Trust me, I’ve seen what people angry with God call people...sitting through 8 years of BDS and so forth.

I’ve also seen what insecure hypocrites call others when they force their values onto society and meet this kind of resistance.

Meanwhile, I’m waiting for one of you to defend godless liberal ideas, judgment, values and how well they’re working as they’ve been IMPOSED upon society.

So far...it’s been nothing but crickets chirping.

Americans call people that hijack the courts to force their views onto others fascists, gutless punks and cowards. We don’t like being told what to do by an elite few that hijack government, what is or isn’t acceptable as only they see fit.

If Michael Newdow told me I was a sociopath, this only further confirms to me that I’m on the correct path.

I’ll always have a good conscience in following Christ with no remorse and certainly no guilt.

I’m no more perfect than anyone else and will stand before Him all by myself and HE will most certainly point out all my errors, but I’m CERTAIN that my understanding of Genesis will not be one.

More like Intelligent vs Stupid. You have chosen the stupid side, this is not good or evil; it is just stupid.

This from the side determined to stomp science clean of intelligence! LOL

Since you have a problem taking the Bible literally, I will insert the literal meanings in read.

"18 The LORD God said: "It is not good for the man to be alone. Man was alone.I will make create a suitable partner for him."

19 So Because man was alone and it was NOT good the LORD God formed created out of the ground did not exist till after God found that it was not good form man to be alone. various wild animals and various birds of the air,

You’re not arguing in good faith, ie, seeking understanding.

You’re just a cheap little sniper with some crap that you picked up here and there that MIGHT work on some untrained Christian kid in a classroom. They really aren’t worth addressing, based on what you’ve exposed of your understanding. IE, you’re too ignorant to argue with, it’s pointless.

You’re a teacher or professor, aren’t you?

I see you have no response to my argument.

Excuses, smears, all to duck that you cannot address a simple inquery.

You’re a teacher or professor, aren’t you?

Another lame attempt at a smear. No, I am a Nuclear Engineer.

Apparently an untrained Christian kid in a classroom would make a better argument than you can.

Actually, it would appear your aticle is just a tad one-sided. I did a little checking, and by what I’m reading, the Pope is pro-ID (which you call “stupid”), and thus your claim that your position is “indistinguishable from that of the Pope” is just flat-out wrong:

“Pope Benedict XVI has sacked his chief astronomer after a series of public clashes over the theory of evolution.

He has removed Father George Coyne from his position as director of the Vatican Observatory after the American Jesuit priest repeatedly contradicted the Holy See’s endorsement of “intelligent design” theory, which essentially backs the “Adam and Eve” theory of creation.

Intelligent design

Benedict favours intelligent design, which says God directs the process of evolution, over Charles Darwin’s original theory which holds that species evolve through the random, unplanned processes of genetic mutation and the survival of the fittest.”

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-401950/Pope-sacks-astronomer-evolution-debate.html

So tell me, now that you have read the above, does the Pope’s endorsement of ID mean he is “stupid”?
