ORLANDO, Fla. Senator John McCain was not in a cone of silence on Saturday night while his rival, Senator Barack Obama, was being interviewed at the Saddleback Church in California.
Members of the McCain campaign staff, who flew here Sunday from California, said Mr. McCain was in his motorcade on the way to the church as Mr. Obama was being interviewed by the Rev. Rick Warren, the author of the best-selling book The Purpose Driven Life.
The matter is of interest because Mr. McCain, who followed Mr. Obamas hourlong appearance in the forum, was asked virtually the same questions as Mr. Obama. Mr. McCains performance was well received, raising speculation among some viewers, especially supporters of Mr. Obama, that he was not as isolated during the Obama interview as Mr. Warren implied.
Nicolle Wallace, a spokeswoman for Mr. McCain, said on Sunday night that Mr. McCain had not heard the broadcast of the event while in his motorcade and heard none of the questions.
The insinuation from the Obama campaign that John McCain, a former prisoner of war, cheated is outrageous, Ms. Wallace said...[excerpt]

If you say McCain cheated then Rick lied.
Good job, NYT. You got the word out to all 3 of your current subscribers about the unholy “breaching” of “the cone of silence,” and one of them might actually believe you and care! Your plunging stock values are sure to rise now.
“Interviewed Sunday on CNN, Mr. Warren seemed surprised to learn that Mr. McCain was not in the building during the Obama interview.”
He did`nt even know if McCain was in the building or not? This will just add fuel to the rumor that McCain cheated.
And Mac knew the answers because he has lived it!
The cone never worked on Get Smart. /sarcasm
That piqued my curiosity, so I took a look at the DUmp and they’re calling for Rick Warren to apologize to Obama and all Americans. Warren needn’t apologize to me as I wasn’t offended.
The Left and their blogs/sites can be mildly amusing in a sick way.
Don't count on THAT. Lautenberg "couldn't" pull a switch either.
The media thinks McCain is old, confused, and senile. How could he possibly remember all of The One`s answers?
I am so sick and tired of the “cheating” claims. OMG! Everything is a conspiracy or cheating. It grows old and wearisome.
The One`s campaign just expected McCain to sit there with a vacant look in his eyes and drool. Because he did`nt, they of course throw out the accusation that he cheated. It`s amusing. The libs think The One mopped the floor with McCain at the forum, but they`re crying that he cheated.
Well this calls for a do-over and the Maverick goes first.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Every damn time McCain smashes hussein at any debate or forum apparently, the media will claim cheating apparently.
It’s gonna happen quite a lot of times.
Hillary saw it as well.
Ruh Roh
Darn good point!
Why would one have to “prepare” for these questions anyway? They struck me as questions that one would “know” the answer to, as things that go straight to what you believe and things you should be able to articulate day and night....no preparation needed.
The Obama campaign is pathetic to accuse Warren and McCain of lying. Even if he heard the answers, I bet he laughed out loud when Barry blurted out the paygrade stupidity.
Exactly. And Baraq didn't because he has to make up new realities as he goes.
too bad the Times isn’t in a ‘cone of silence’
