...Richard Land, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention. In talking about VP choices with CBS News, Land said that Gov. Palin would be the most exciting VP choice for the Evangelical community....

Richard Land: Probably Governor Palin of Alaska, because she's a person of strong faith. She just had her fifth child, a Downs Syndrome child. And there's a wonderful quote that she gave about her baby, and the fact that she would never, ever consider having an abortion just because her child had Downs Syndrome. She's strongly pro-life.
She's a virtual lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. She would ring so many bells. And I just think it would help with independents because she's a woman. She's a reform Governor. I think that, from what I hear, that would be the choice that CBSNews.com: Whos on the list of people mentioned for VP that you think would most excite Southern Baptists and other members of the conservative faith community? Palin for Veep bookmark!
The ‘evangelical’ community can stick it in its ear. They had Hunter in front of them and they went for weak sister Huck instead. Now they want an affirmative action choice, a 1/2 term governor?
Hillary won’t be happy.
I would love to see Sarah Palin and the VEEP for the GOP, but, I read somewhere recently that she is part of a probe/investigation into offshore drilling companies and the State of Alaska.
Can anyone fill us in on whassup with that?
Palin is certainly my number one choice and I would love to see her be the first female president when she’s done as VP.
What do you mean an “affirmative action choice”, pissant?
She’s female, if I recall.
This Southern Baptist says no to the Huckster.
Yes,
She’s kicking a$$. She’s thrown down the gauntlet in challenging a long history of Alaskan corruption, and the public has taken notice. A group tried starting this “investigation” a short time ago - but everyone is seeing it for the political movement it obviously was.
For once, because of the obviousness of what’s behind the investigation, the Republican is getting high marks.
I suspect the investigation will end very quickly, as the veil was quickly removed and there is nothing being gained.
Based on this reasoning, every demographic in the Republican base can stick it in their ear because they chose somebody over Hunter.
I haven’t seen anything about that. Only the firing investigation.
Well, the GOP can shove in their ear. Actually they are trying to shove McCain up the country’s butt. But hey, who am I to complain.
While I like her views, and think she’d be a strong candidate, her lack of experience bugs me. It’d be kind of hard to point out Barry O’s justified lack of a resume as a one-term Senator, and then put a half-term Governor of Alaska on your ticket as the wingman to a 71-year-old McCain. That’s a vulnerability you know the Rats would counter if they had a more experienced VP candidate.

Did anybody notice that Palin can be made into Pal In? John McCain has a pal in Palin! It’s corny, but it works.
Same happened with Kasich.
I think it's just a big problem running as a Congressman. Nobody takes a presidential candidate seriously unless they're a Governor or a Senator.
Sad, but it seems to be the case. Even one term at Governor or Senator seems to outweigh 20 years in Congress.
Very, Very sad. Hunter would be a primo choice (Kasich, too).
Make no mistake, though, Palin is a quality choice. One term taking on the Alaska system is equivalent to four terms in a comfy-cozy Governorship elsewhere. Same with Jindal in LA.
But I share your disdain for the lack of support given Duncan Hunter. Whenever I think about it, it really pisses me off.
By that logic, Margaret Thatcher and Golda Meir were both affirmative action choices. OK, Palin isn’t Thatcher, but she isn’t Harriet Miers either.
